UW-Oshkosh Accelerated BSN - May 2015 Cohort

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Greetings!

I've started the application process for the May 2015 cohort, with the September 15, 2014 deadline in mind. I've completed the academic prerequisites, with the exception of Biochemistry; and I'm enrolled in that for this fall semester. Luckily, I scored well enough on the TEAS V that I won't need to take an advanced composition class. I live in Milwaukee and I've been taking prerequisites at Milwaukee Area Technical College. I haven't yet started my CNA training and I hope to have that completed in October or November.

Once I decided to leave full-time employment to concentrate on prerequisites, I started doing very well and am thoroughly enjoying my classes. UW-Oshkosh uses prerequisite grades to determine GPA, so I should be competitive in that regard. My TEAS V scores were quite high, so I should be in good shape there, as well. My definitive weakness will be my lack of CNA experience. Past UW-Oshkosh ABSN threads show the lack of CNA experience trips up many applicants.

Is anyone else thinking of applying?

I'm also very nervous. This is nerve wracking. I hope we'll hear from them soon. :)

Another week down! Hope everyone's hangin' in there! I know I've been checking my email almost every thirty minutes, lol. Hopefully next week will be the week!!

Same for me!! Today I was on high alert for a new email!

Crossing my fingers for the weeks to come! Good luck, all! Been keeping everyone in my thoughts!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week! *Lots of prayers*

I feel soooo anxious! How are you all making it through so patiently?! This is one of the hardest waits I've ever encountered.

I know what you mean Lanette! I don't know that I would say I am "patiently" waiting... I have the Gmail app on my phone and a specific ringtone to go off when I get something to that email address. Each and every of the student health emails has made me almost stop breathing because I'm so excited and nervous to see if it is "THE" email.

I was so hopeful about Nov. 21 being the day but now that it has come and gone, it's hard to not have any idea when we will get the news!

At least we are pretty much on the last leg of this wait! Just think of how quickly November flew by! It doesn't seem like all that long ago I was anxiously awaiting my interviews. December 31st will be here before we know it!! I'm so hopeful we will hear before then, but let's hope we can all keep our sanity until we do ?

Any updates? I'm vicariously living through you lot since I haven't applied yet.

Welcome, stillworking64!

No news yet--but I'm glad you're following our thread! I remember doing that for previous cohorts.... In fact, prior to interviewing and since, I think I've read every post in every Oshkosh Accel thread on allnurses about 3x! ?

Ha! Now I'm doing that too (stalkin' the UW-Oshkosh Accel threads!) I'm living vicariously through you all too since I'm just starting this process (all pre-reqs done but have to get my CNA and some experience.) Sounds like people really love this program, especially in it's very non-traditional format. I'm very excited to be a part of a future cohort. :) :)

Well I got the formal declination e-mail this morning....which I was fully expecting since I never got an interview this go round. I'm guessing the acceptance e-mails for people shouldn't be too far off now.

I'm pretty sure my lack of CNA experience is what killed my chances, but I have a message in to the program to see how I can improve for next time. I picked up a CNA job in the past month so hopefully that will improve my odds for the October 2015 cohort.

I wish everyone here the best of luck on getting into the May cohort!

I was declined as well. It's rather heartbreaking, isn't it?

I also sent in an email to Sue--we will see what she says.

Still sending good luck to the rest of you!

:) I got in. I'm so excited.

People who didn't get accepted this time, don't get discouraged. Talk to Sue and try aging next time, most people don't get accepted the first time they apply.

Congratulations to everyone who got in!
