Bryant & Stratton vs MATC

I have been researching more about going to school for nursing and was pretty set on trying to go to MATC since I had gone there before for a different degree. I took many of the General courses already so I only need to take science and biology classes. I am a little put off by the petition process of MATC, the fact that I could complete all of the General courses and get all my shots then get turned down for whatever reason and have to wait until next semester to try and get in again, and maybe get turned down again. Has anyone petitioned lately and been denied?

I've been looking at other schools and it doesn't look like Bryant & Stratton has a petition process, I may be wrong but I didn't see any mention of it. Has anyone gone to Bryant & Stratton? Is it likely that credits would transfer if I decided to go for a Bachelors?

I'd appreciate any input, I work full time and have been trying to get the ball rolling so I'm trying to make a decision because I will have to quit my full time job.

I'm a current MATC nursing student and I only know one or two people that didn't get in their first try. This semester I didn't know anyone that petitioned that wasnt accepted on their first attempt. So while it does happen its not the norm to be petitioning more than once. I love MATC. The nursing instructors are wonderful and you can't beat the price of tuition either.

No dean? wow! I'm surprised they can maintain accreditation! Kinda scary.... especially seeing the steep tuition rates!

I would definately STAY AWAY from matc. I've been there for 2 semesters of the nursing program and left because of the incompetence. I was hopefull that it would improve but it only got worse. The "instructors" are not teaching for the right reasons. Everything about the program is haphazard. I have since transfered and am much happier. Good luck with whatever you chose to do but in my honest opinion, MATC nursing is NOT worth the wait.

I'm at Mequon MATC and not downtown. Maybe that make the difference because our instructors are nothing but wonderful and doing great work. I've heard they are doing away with the semester of waiting before petioning which helps too.

Have you made your final choice yet? I just met with admissions last week and today I received a call stating the person I met with is no longer an employee with them...?? A little strange indeed. It seems some love BS while others hate it, however, I think that happens at any college. I love the idea of not having to go through any petioning but am hesitant because no one in my area has heard of this college. (It is about 70 miles away)

Well, Hemmatmahdi, you must not check your student email. I am a Bryant & Stratton student as well, and I'd like to post a correction to this thread. Early into the winter semester the nursing student body recieved an email informing us that we do, in-fact, have a dean that was recently hired, and our accreditation status is NOT in jeopardy. I am in my last semester at Bryant & Stratton and I, like many of you, scoured www.allnurses.com for any helpful tips about my school and the nursing profession. Bryant & Stratton was a great place to go for my ADN. I feel so prepared to enter the world of nursing. I have a lot of friends that attend other nursing schools in the greater Milwaukee area, and let me just say I can definitely tell I got a great education at Bryant & Stratton. It is a farily newer program that is always evolving. It seems most of the kinks have been worked out but you'll always encounter an issue or two with any program you enroll in. We have one of the highest NCLEX pass rates in the area...this school must be doing something right!

As for the credit transfer question, all of my nursing credits from Bryant & Stratton have been accepted at UW-GREENBAY for their RN-BSN Online bridge program. Bryant & Stratton also announced recently that they are beginning a BSN program as well.

I am a new Bryant and Stratton nursing student. I took the TEAS and passed. I start in September. What should I expect? Is the program very hard. I plan to attend full-time.
