Accelerated BSN programs in the Milwaukee/Madison area?

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Specializes in ICU.

Hello! I'm posting for a friend who lives in Waukesha and currently looking for an accelerated BSN program. She already has her bacherlor's (in pyschology I believe) but unfortunately has a low gpa of 2.75. Are there any programs in WI that will accept a GPA that low, or only focus the science core GPA? She still needs to take A&P I and II, but even if she gets an A in both of these, it will not raise her GPA significantly. I really hope she can find something as she really would like to become a nurse and intergrate her psychology degree and experience at a eating disorder clinic.

UW- Oshkosh has a program and it is online. Though the GPA might get her but I think she might be able to raise it with A and P. Have her check it out. You only have 3 times you have to come to campus one weekend before the program starts, two weeks after three months after the start of the program and the last week of the program. I think she should look into it.

Thank you very much! I will definately let her know!

The Edgewood accelerated program in Madison might be doable. I went to their info session, and they stressed that they really consider the "whole applicant" - interview, phone interview with the references, essay, resume, etc. They were pretty encouraging of people without the most excellent GPA's. That said, there are only 21 spots in the program, and it costs $46,000.

Thanks! That sounds like it might be a good option for her too. A little pricey, especially for a single mom, but where there's a will, there's a way I suppose. I'll pass this info on to her :)

the edgewood program is probably her better bet as far as getting in since they are newer and i hear that they are trying to find applicants since they are a new program. however they require 2 semesters of foreign language. Edgewood has a fantastic traditional program and im sure there accelerated program will not disappoint. Good luck

I am starting the oskosh accellerated program in a week . as a single mom im not sure it would be easy for her to do since its a 24/7 committment. im not saying there is never down time but i was told that we might only get 1 days notice about when and where we will do our clinical ect..... you might do clinicals am , pm , nights,,..... its whatever they assign you. Good luck!
