I am in Community and Population Health now and should be done in 10 days. That will be 6 classes finished since March 1. My mentor added my practicum today so I will start working on that as well. I asked her about the changes to the RN-MSN program. She said it will not affect me, only students beginning Aug 1 or later. She said no classes are being removed, just being added. She didn't know exactly what was being added but she said there's talk about an advanced Pharmacology class. I asked if I could take those added classes and she said she didn't know. Will let you know when I hear more!

Specializes in labor & delivery.

Advanced pharm classes and advanced assessment are being added. When I spoke with my counselor she told me the classes but did not have anything in writing as of yet to send out to me. The program is going from 30 to 38 units.

I think there's a third class too but I can't think what it is... oh pharmacology, pathophysiology and adv physical assessment maybe? I may not be allowed to take those 3 since I'm already in. We will see.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Those three courses are known as 'the three Ps' and are commonly found in clinical MSN programs leading to advanced practice degrees. Apparently, they are soon to be required for ALL MSN programs, non-clinical and clinical alike.

Most DNP and PhD nursing programs require them as MSN components. I wish I had been able to take them.

pharmacology would be fun, but I would hope after being a beside nurse for 20 years that I had figured out the assessment part by now.
