Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone else is starting this program Oct 1st....? maybe we could start a support system of sorts....I am excited to finally get on the road to finishing this degree:nurse:!

Take the practice assessment and see where you need work. If you pass it request to take the exam immediately.

I am also taking nutrition and I am unable to find pre assessment for it. I was told (by my mentor) if there is no pre assessment listed on your degree plan there there is not one available. The COS does seem like a circle but after each chapter I have been doing the quizzes and other activities that are in the course compass. I also am printing the chapter summaries out to study from as well. After I take the quiz at the end of the chapter, I print it so I can use it as a study guide and to go back and look at which ones I got wrong and study that material over. I am hoping to finish by the end of the month. If you do find a pre assessment let me know.

Has anyone finished NVT2 yet? I got my first paper back and had to revise so I am bummed but hey, its the first paper I have done in years i am hoping my paper writing skills will come back to me.

There is no practice assessment for nutrition. So I guess we just have to focus on the COS and the book. did you print out the study guide from the book? i did and then i use them to obtain the information from the chapters. I am going to schedule my objective exam for next week monday.

I will be starting November 1. I Thought about taking nutrition first, but unsure if it requires rote memorization. My other option was possibly the class on doing a research paper. Anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate the email again for facebook. Thanks

Well I have been printing the chapter summaries but I will look for the study guide. I want to schedule mine for the last saturday in October so I am hopefully done with that by Nov 1st. Taskstream takes so long to grade the papers that I am not sure if I will reach the goal of finishing NVT2 by Nov 1st. Especially if I need to revise anything. Good luck next Monday!!!

Nutrition is easy. Believe me when I say that MINIMAL study will be required to pass the test.

I am so frustrated with human physiology, that I could literally throw up

for some reason i just can't grasp some of the questions for the task. this is so frustrating.:barf01:

I am probably late to the party but regarding an earlier question about taking a separate A&P lab. Straighterline offers separate A&P labs. I am in the middle of the first course, and the lab is very easy and doable (although long and tedious). I still have not had the nerve to open the fetal pig package -- saving it for last :))). However, as someone with no real medical background, I am pleased to hear that even seasoned RNs, LVNs are also retching over it. I thought it was just me. I feel so sorry for the little piggy -- didn't have a chance.

Straighterline does not require proctoring. offers a prereq Biochem -- does this require a webcam or just the actual nursing program courses?

Hey! Just wanted to touch base and see how everyone who started 10/01/11 was doing?

I started this month... have finished EWB and am in GNT1 (Contemporary Nursing Issues) - submitted my first task on Sunday and waiting impatiently for a grade. I take Literature, Arts & the Humanities next (the only prereq I needed), and then resume nursing stuff until I graduate.

How is it going for you all?

One question about tasks... for those with RN work experience, how many sources have you used for your tasks? I'm a little nervous about this one because I literally used ONE source, to reference pain scales for patients who have cognitive impairments. The case study for the task was about an ER patient who came in with decreased LOC and respiratory distress. Being that I work in the ER, I wrote my essay/answers pretty much entirely based on how I would assess/treat this patient on a typical day. I didn't need to look anything up for a reference, and so I didn't use any other sources. I'm a little concerned that they are going to bounce the paper back to me and tell me that I need to have sources for all the information I provided. We'll see!

Is anybody taking GMT1? I could really use some guidance, I don't know where to begin the COS is very disturbing. Any insight would be helpful.

I've done my research and have decided to go with and not Chamberlain College of Nursing. I made my decision based on cost and length of time. As a single parent, I really can NOTafford CCN's tuition. I went to my employer and they looked at the cost of the school and advised me to look into cheaper schools. They told me that they don't know how much longer we will have funds for reimbursement. So, I decided I didn't want to get stuck out there with CCN and the high cost of tuition.

I really want to get my BSN asap, the sooner I get it the sooner I can move my career along. I just hope I don't have problems getting into grad school since my GPA with would only be a 3.0. I'm not sure where I want to go to grad school or what I really want to do, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

I'm set to start WGU on Nov 1st, I'm waiting to hear from my mentor. I have to take a total of nine courses, which includes Nutrition. Good luck to all who've started and will start soon.

I just passed my first assessment for NVT2! Turned it in last Friday, and got my results late yesterday afternoon (Eastern time). My goal is to turn in one assessment per week, so far I am right on track, will turn in assessment #3 this Friday. I have one interview done for task 2, and three more in the works. Anyone else working on interviews? Any luck getting a nurse researcher?
