So I have to write and admission essay and I haven't written one in years. Any tips? Does anyone know what the essay is to be on or are they all different? If I knew what it was I could work on it but I have to log on and see what it is and do it right then and there. write it on there and post it within 2 hours.

Are they looking for it to be in APA format?

Nope. It's just a simple essay to make sure you can write in English using complete sentences. I would not stress about it. :)

Echoing featherz comment. You'll do just fine. Good luck in your quest for that BSN. You won't regret going to .

I just did it. Not too bad. Now I'm just waiting for the results. I was told that I wouldn't be able to start until February. I was really hoping to start January. Is that the norm? I thought as long as everything was in and done by the 22nd I would be able to start the following month. Anyone know?

Thanks

I've heard they have enrollment caps from time to time, maybe you were caught up in one? I'd ask your admissions counselor to see what they say. And I am sure you did fine on the essay. :)

Not sure if this was answered or not but I'm a little confused about the proctored part. Does every class have that? Is it only at the end of the class? Are the quizzes proctored? What does each class typically involve?

Thanks

Some classes have a single test to complete - those are proctored. Other classes are completed with a 'project' which can be a set of papers, a powerpoint, etc. Those are turned in to a grading service. There is nothing else 'required' - no quizzes, etc - anything else in the course of your studies is optional. You get a course of study to follow with suggested work to be done to learn the subject, but you CAN skip all that and go right to the final quiz or paper(s) if you want, or you can work through the study materials. Depends on how well you know that subject already. There are pre-tests for the classes with final exams that you can take to judge how ready you are to take the final.

For example, one class is on gerontology. I took the pre-assessment and decided I was ready for the final exam, as this is a subject I know. I brushed up on a few things that I was lacking, based on the results of the pretest, then took the final and passed. Class done. On the other hand, I had to take a humanities course that I know zero, nada, nothing about. That one I worked through the entire prescribed course of study before taking the final.

Would you say most classes are proctored or more of them are project based? I think I would get nervous with the proctored based classes. I get nervous! lol. Each class has a pre-assessment? Can you take those pre-assessments more than once?

I appreciate all your help

Depends on which classes you need. :) I think I had 6 or 7 proctored exams, but I also had to take a lot of extra classes. They aren't bad, just regular exams with a webcam. Or go to a testing center and just sit at a normal desk with no camera. Those classes, IIRC, all had pre-assessments. And yes, you can take the preassessments up to three times.
