BSN Prelicensure in California starting July 1st

Nursing Students Western Governors

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is starting the BSN Prelicensure cohort in Southern California starting July 1st?

Where is that cohort at?

I'm not exactly sure, I was told you would be assigned a hospital 8-9 months after starting the program.

I would also like information on how I could get in even if am out of state of ca. Am not ready to relocate from Wa yet due to family and work; I could commute to wherever the clinicals are when I get to that point. Especially if they could be concentrated in say, 2 weeks. Someone please give me some concrete answers. Thanks all

Hi Signwonder, majority of the clinicals are concentrated around a 2 week period, however there are also labs and assessments that will require you to be present. For example, the first term you are required to be at the site 2 weekends in a row and that is all.

Going into the 2nd term it gets more complicated. You can have a month where you are required to be there for only 1 weekend, but the next you could be required to be present for up to 3-4 weekends (this includes clinicals, assessments, and labs). So basically from my understanding the terms go first month (1 weekend lab), 2nd month (1 weekend lab, 1 weekend assessment, to prepare you for clinicals to be completed in a 2 week span that may go through the 3rd month). Then in the 4th month it starts all over again.

Hope that helps. I would look into the Utah cohort, since the CA cohorts are more competitive to get into.

Did anyone complete the program cars to share their experience and total cost? How'd did it go with working your regular job?
