Anyone in or finished the pre-licensure online BSN program?

I have been looking for reviews on the BSN program, but so far most of the reviews are on the ADN-BSN programs. I would like to hear from students that either are in the pre-licensure BSN program or finished the program.

-Pro's and cons of your opinion

-How long will or did it take you to finish?

-Do you work or did you work while in the program? And how many hours a week?

-And add anything else you would want to share with me, please :)

If anyone particular is from southern california in the program, how did the clinicals work? Did they find you a hosptial and a mentor or do you find your own?

hi emmeree. im really interested in bsn program in . would you plz tell me more about your experience with the school?

thanks

is anyone currently enrolled in (Texas) LPN to BSN? If so, how has it been? how are clinicals? I am thinking of applying to that school because I am terrified of the CPNE with excelsior and the wait time for a test date with excelsior is extremely long. Any information regarding your experience in WGU would be greatly appreciated.

There is no LPN to BSN. There is RN to BSN and BSN Pre-Licensure, but your time as an LPN would most likely boost your chances of getting in. It sounds like a few people are thinking about jumping ship from Excelsior but I think if you've already done the bulk of that program why would you want to do the whole thing all over again and waste all of the money that you put into it? I would suggest finishing the ASN / AAS and applying to once you get a job (I believe that is one of their requirements, to be employed when you start the BSN...). If you don't think you can pass the CPNE then you should probably hold off on taking it anyway.

I am a prospective student and I was told in California this program is available only in the Los Angeles area. I live in northern CA. Does any one know if the clinical is only on the week ends. I am trying to figure out if it would be possible for me to travel to clinical sites.

Is anyone in Northern California attending GWU. If so how do you attend the clinical sites. I was told the clinical Sites are all in Los Angels.

Does anyone know if they give Lvn credits for the BSN licensure program? I am wondering how it works. Any info would be helpful. And do they still offer the Lvn to RN program?

They don't, but I found it will probably be easier to get into this program than any public LVN to RN program in CA. I can't afford a private LVN to RN program.

I'm finishing my prereqs through Straighterline and my application stuff is already in. After I finish my prereqs I'll take my TEAS and hopefully get in.

They are all in SoCal. I was told two years ago that they wouldn't consider me for the program because I lived in NorCal. So... I love to SoCal. I have heard on this board somewhere that this is someone who lives in NorCal and is in the program and comes down for all the clinicals.

I also am a LVN with a BS in Psych - and they haven't evaluated my transcript yet. What did they waive for you?

thanks!

any update on students, were the professors helpful or difficult to understand? How were clinicals?

I have found that the Course Mentors (professors) have been helpful when I reach out to them. In regards to difficulty of understanding them I think that varies based upon your own learning style and their respective teaching style. Sometimes, it may be a great fit othertimes not so much. You will find the same at any program.

Not sure what you specifically want to know regarding clinicals. So I'll cover a few topics. In regards to clinicals, we are given a clinical window in which we may expect to complete our clinical rotation. This schedule may be given to you prior to the beginning of the clinical window or in some cases after it opens. It depends on the facility you are assigned too and their scheduling. Clinical rotations are what you make of it- get in there learn and absorb everything you can. Ask questions, don't be afraid to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Don't be the student that stays on their phone or hides and you will be fine at clinicals.

Is it possible to commute from out of state to attend clinicals and labs in Texas or UT for the prelicensure program? Thanks!

It would be challenging. In my experience, you are extremely lucky to get your clinical schedule in the 2 week window prior to clinicals. More likely than not you will get your clinical schedule right before clinicals or even during the clinical window. If you are having to fly in this would be pretty difficult and could add up.

During my first term, a classmate was flying in from Nor. Cal for our assessment. Her flight was delayed multiple times. And she was extremely stressed trying to get down here. And that was the last day to test.

Ultimately it depends on your lifestyle, financial situation etc. But it will be challenging due to the last minute changes.
