I was wondering if anyone in NC is doing the MSN program for education with . I want to do it but wanted to know what employers are saying about the program and wanted some insight with the community practicum. Any feedback is welcome!

I just applied for this program in TN. I haven't heard anything bad from employers here. Our governor is like sponsoring the school to make it easy for Tn residents to get an affordable education.

I'm not in an MSN program, but I am in the BSN program and I live and work in SE NC. I've heard no complaints about from others local nurses I know who got their BSNs from there. Many of the my faculty at my ADN program in SE NC got their MSN in education from University of Phoenix and that is the case for a few other community college programs near me. I work on the CVICU in a Heart and Vascular Center managed by Duke Health and we just hired a new director (who is pure awesome by the way) who earned for MSN and MHA from University of Phoenix and is pursuing her PhD from Phoenix as well. She got the job over another lady who had a MSN and PhD from Yale school of Nursing. Our director had much more actual clinical and on the floor experience than the candidate from Yale (not to say that's the only reason she got hired bc I dont know that). I do think, however, that it goes to show that employers value experience just as much, if not more in some cases, than where you went to school.

Finally got accepted and passed readiness assessment! Waiting on Transcript evaluations and then I can start. Anyone else from NC doing the program?

Southeast NC. I think I will have completed 15 units, or 6 classes by the term end. I'm just doing the BSN for now.

I already have my BSN, I have checked into various school and was wondering how the masters classes are working? I don't want to take forever to complete the degree:-) I noticed that they have several classes, but lower credits/class. how many papers/class? what kind of assignments are being prescribed? Thank you for any insight!

Hey y'all! I live in SE NC as well. I'm considering but I have so many questions. My goal is to apply to ECU's post-mastery Midwifery program after graduation. Because WGU is accredited by the appropriate organizations, acceptance to ECU should not be an issue, correct? I've completed most of the pre-reqs for ECUs BSN program. What experience have you had with transferring credits? Have you looked into other online options, Kaplan specifically? I cannot find any information regarding this MSN concentration and post clinical work, like CNM/NP. Any info? Thanks!

I am not sure about transfer credits, I have my bsn and am doing the msn. From what I have read here it apparently has not been an issue with some schools applying for post masters programs. I do know that some schools want a higher than 3.0 for acceptance, so that would be something to consider. The only sure way to know is to contact ECU for their recommendation. Good luck! I am doing this program and considering doing a post MSN NP program:-) or DNP. On facebook there is group--general discussion group, can ask around on there about transfer credits, but the RN to MSN group is closed to only those already enrolled, I tried to join the group literally 2weeks early and the leader of the group was really a jerk about it...good luck!

The only time transfer credits are an issue is if the school you're applying to wants a GPA higher than 3.0

All of your CU's equate to a "B" which is 3.0 at most schools. As far as accreditation, WGU has the highest accreditation needed: both regional (which is the "gold standard") and nursing-specific (CCNE).
