Valley Medical Center

I'm interested in Valley Medical Center's nurse residency...Anyone work at VMC or know about their nurse residency? Job satisfaction? Hospital reputation?

Thanks!

I would be interested in getting information as well, such as the start date of the residency that is currently posted on their jobs site.

Haven't worked there in years, but all my friends quit along the way. Very strict absenteeism policy. Competitive pay, and education benefits. Not a real warm and fuzzy place to work. I floated, so saw a lot of departments. Staffing is 4,5 and 6 depending on shift.

Good luck. :)

I have not seen anything about a nurse residency program on their website. I am currently working in homecare and I want out so bad. I look on the hospital web sites everyday.

They had postings up on the bulletin board when I was there for clinicals last February or so.

If you want a strong residency program try Franscisan. They hire new grads like crazy.

Interesting story on the news about Valley's million dollar per year CEO yesterday. I think I would steer away from employment there for that reason alone. At least until the next election cycle.

The CEO has been there for a very long time. He won't be leaving anytime soon, as the bean counters love the guy. He was not a nice person to work under and one reason why a lot of people leave. I wont' say more because it isn't nice.:lol2:

Yikes. Nervous about my clinical there now... approaching shortly..

This is true, my friend just graduated from our program and she already has a job at St. Clare's. :) I hope I have similar luck when I graduate!

daisy,

Did she know someone within the hospital or do her clinical there? Or did she apply using the conventional methods?

She went the traditional way. She had done a clinical rotation at a different Franciscan hospital, but she told me that they never even talked to her preceptor in the process.
