UW BSN Fall 2011

U.S.A. Washington

Published

I am planning on applying this year for Fall 2011 BSN at UW, although I doubt I'll be competitive due to my lack of healthcare experience. I'll have a bit over 100 hours by the time the application is due, but in more than one setting. I'm sort of just planning to go through the motions this year so I know what to expect the following year. Also A&P is kicking my butt this quarter so I probably won't end up with an A :( . Anyone else applying?

How do you know when they mail the letters?

Ugh! I just need to vent...I just got home from my A/P test...well there were two tests. One was our last practical, and the other was a quiz on the disease papers we wrote earlier in the quarter. Apparently my instructor found out beforehand that there was some cheating going on, so he made the disease quiz incredibly hard. Now I'm not sure that I'm going to end up with an A in the class anymore. I don't understand why people cheat...Of course A/P is hard, but it's also a knowledge base you'll need! Do they think nursing/dental hygiene/physical therapist assistant programs are going to be easy? Suck it up and study!!!

@ Zyix... they mail out the letters April 15th. It said so on the application itself or the application instructions and on the application blog:

@ kristina that's super lame!!! I cannot believe that people still cheat in college, but unfortunately they do. I think it was a shame that your instructor made it super hard but that's probably the only avenue he had. The stupid thing about people that cheat is that they aren't helping themselves. You cannot cheat on liscense exams and state exams. I'm sure you did alright though! =)

Hi All! I am anxiously awaiting an admissions decision for fall of 2011! I was accepted into the Seattle U bsn program, so if I get into UW as well, it will be a tough choice!

Admissions letters are sent before April 15th not on April 15th. Last year, people started getting their letters around April 5th, so hopefully we will hear some news in the next couple of weeks. UW has an admissions blog and they will post when they start sending letters. Good luck to everyone!

Good to know... I thought I heard/or read somewhere that they mail the letters out April 15th. In any case I figure I'll know by then. Thanks for the update and good luck in your decision. Are you leaning one way or the other?

It is good to know we will have an answer by April 15th at the latest. Only 2-3 more weeks! If I get into UW, I will most likely accept the offer. Since getting into SU though, I've heard so many great things about there program. I'm trying not to think about it until I hear from UW because I might not have a decision to make!

I really thought we would have heard by now that the letters had gone out. Wonder if it'll happen tomorrow? Spring break has made me even more anxious

I agree Kristina!! But it won't be long now...probably within the next week. The previous poster is correct the date on my letter from last year is April 2nd so it will be soon!

I just checked the admissions blog and this is what it says:

Of 455 applicants to the BSN program, 95 were admitted and 15 were placed on a waitlist.

Does this mean they sent the letters?!! Previous applicants, do you remember them posting admissions stats when they sent letters last year?

Ohhh... I just scrolled down through the blog, and admission letters were sent out yesterday. Ahh! Good luck everyone!!!

Omg...I got in! I can't believe it...how about everyone else?

Hi Kristina,

I'm new to this discussion, but I also just found out I was admitted into the BSN program for this fall! I have to say that I'm happy to see I'm not the only one in my late 20s who was admitted; I took the round-about way, getting a degree in a different subject before recently deciding on nursing school. Congratulations to you! The application was a b@#$%, wasn't it?
