Hello everyone! I just applied to the Nurse Residency program at Swedish in Seattle, WA for the May 2014 cohort. Anyone else in the same boat? Getting excited? Would love to hear from folks who started in previous cohorts.
Thanks!
During my residency I was given a schedule of my classes and simulations that was different from week to week. There was also a weekly list of computer modules that you are assigned to do and designated hours that were assigned to prepare for simulations. After that the manager of the department would assign hours on the unit with the days that are left over. The days you work may depend on when your preceptor is working too. During the residency you should not expect to just be working three 12 hour days everything varies. After you are through with the classroom portion and the simulations and just working on the unit you should at that point to work 3 12's if that is the norm for your unit.
I just started the program in September and have been having a great experience so far. There are a variety of different campuses and I am at First Hill. We have some new management and it sounds like there have been some issues in the past regarding how nurses are treated but I have not noticed anything and it seems like they are working hard to put a stop to it. Are you looking at any particular departments?

Hi there, I was just offered a position in the fall but was wondering if you have any insight.... I'm guessing it might vary by department but during the residency portion did you have your three days consecutively or is it whatever days they assign you? Thank you.
