Seattle U APNI - 2010 Entry

U.S.A. Washington

Published

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for Seattle U's APNI program. I thought I'd start a thread because it doesn't look like there is one, yet.

I think we're supposed to hear about interviews sometime soon. Has anyone gotten word, yet?

Does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist? I wonder. I was told they "often admit 25 from the waitlist" and "we often go deeply into the waitlist." And she mentioned there are great applicants there too. She said the ranking is very very close. hmmm

Hollownurse, I hope your hearsay is correct. Was everyone that was interviewed waitlisted? I planned on calling them to find out, but I didn't really want to bother them at such a busy time.

Also in the event we do get in, is there a special financial aid form for summer quarter that we have to do?

Well, I will be officially giving up my seat in the FNP track. I have decided to attend Thomas Jefferson University's FACT Program (BSN/MSN) in Philadelphia. I can work as an RN first to get experience in the field before I proceed to the Master's portion, which I think is critical for me. I am also contemplating with the idea of applying to UW's BSN-DNP program, but we'll see.

I will give you some financial aid info. Yes, there is a summer financial aid form that must be filled out. I don't think it's available until May. There is also a $150 deposit due upon acceptance. I was told that the College of Nursing has limited funding available this year for scholarships. In June, they will invite students to apply for an APNI scholarship (max of $5000 each year) and a Diversity Scholarship (up to $6000 each year). There is also a Graduate Nursing Scholarship and I'm not sure how much that one is worth. All scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need, so make sure you fill out a FAFSA. When you are accepted into the program, they'll send you more info on financial aid, orientation dates, health insurance, etc.

I wish everyone the best of luck! SU is a great school! It was a pleasure getting to know you all throughout this process. Who knows, we may cross paths again as I plan to come back to WA after a year in Philly to get my RN experience :)

Hello Everyone,

I am slightly concerned about whether or not I will need to re-take a chemistry course that I got lower than a 3.0 in. if I am offered a position from the wait list. Do any of you know if the min. grade for the pre-requisite classes was a 3.0 or better, or if cumulatively it had to be over a 3.0?

I think it must be cumulative. I've gotten lesser on individual classes and still got into programs, or waitlisted. Overall I think matters most too.

I recently received both an email and a letter in the mail with more program details, including that a $150 deposit must be made by April 1 in order to reserve your spot in the program. After that, the letter said they would give up your spot to another student. So those on the waitlist can probably start to expect some movement on the waitlist after April 1. Good luck!

I finally received my letter in the mail saying I was waitlisted. That pretty much makes my decision on going to UW. Good luck to everyone in beginning your new careers!

Thanks for that. I'm really thankful for all the communication on this forum. You all are going to make great nurses. Cheers

I was wait listed as well. As of now I have two choices on which schools to attend. I was looking in the PLU area for apartments and so far it's not charming me. I read the reviews about some of the apartments close and a bit distant from the uni... ouch! I may end up renting a house and searching for roommates.

Has anybody been accepted off the wait-list or heard anything from SU lately?

Nothing so far. Prospects don't look to good for me, so I might have to apply next year. I hope more luck comes to you quadruple double.
