Washington Hospital Center Residency February 2011 COHORT

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello everyone I wanted to start a separate thread for people interviewing for the February 2011 Residency, I just got the e-mail a couple of minutes ago saying that I will be interviewing in December 16, I graduated in May and this is my first interview :uhoh3: so I am a little bit nervous.

If anybody that went to program has any tips, I will appreciate it! Thanks!:nurse:

If your interview date has passed, I would probably email them about it. They are interviewing over 200 people from what I hear.

I applied but Washington DC has a high cost of living... not sure i could afford to live there on a nurse's salary.

COL is high but you can live outside DC. I live 12 miles away in Rockville. Cost of living is still high but if you shop around you could find something you can afford. I heard someone applying there that said she lives 45 min away. Of course, with DC traffic that could be 10 miles away. You could also look at using the metro.

Specializes in L&D, Postpartum, Lactation.

I have my interview on the 6th of January. Has anyone heard back from WHC following their interview? Also, any idea how many people they are interviewing? Thanks!

Hi. I interviewed on Dec 8th, and got a call on Tues Dec 14th I think. They offered me the job and I accepted on Wednesday! I'm very excited, but also worried about living expenses, I'm moving from NC, I'm hoping to find a two bedroom and rent out a room later. Does anyone have any suggestions of places/neighborhoods to live?

I interviewed on the 8th, but I didn't have one of the letters of reference, plus I told them that I will be out of the country until the 5th of January, so I will know once I get back If I got the job or not I guess.

The interview process me was better than I expected it to be, just a little bit long thats all.

As for the cost of living the pay is 27.67 an hour plus differentials, and they pay you for the 8 holidays regardless if you work them or not :).

Well see what happens.

I just accepted yesterday! I am also looking into places to live and would LOVE to have a roomate. I am moving from phx, az. I don't know how quick you are trying to find a roomate though. ANYONE else that is moving and NEEDS a roomate let me know! My physical is scheduled on the 24th of January, so I will be out there the friday before trying to look at a couple places.

Just wanted to tell everyone that I got an offer, but I haven't accepted yet :( I have until the 5th of January to respond, There are so many things that happened in this last month, that I don't know if moving to Washington DC is the best option for me right now.

But good luck to all of those who are starting out!:yeah:

Hi! That is great, congrats! I will actually be there that weekend as well. My physical is the Friday 21st, so I am thinking of going up on Thursday and looking that weekend, so maybe we could meet up and talk further. I am also going up there next weekend just for a day to kinda look around again. My email address is [email protected] If you want to email me and we can talk about it more.

I am flying out from Colorado for an interview on January 6th! I am super excited, but have never been out there so will be trying to figure out living, etc. If anyone is interested in having a roommate let me know!:nurse:

I was wondering for those of you that have interviewed have they explained the program in terms to how much extra time is expected per week for the educational component, etc other then our working hours. Just wondering what is expected. and for those of you moving from out of state did they give any good resources for places to move etc? thanks!
