The Wait Begins... Any Other NVCC 2012 Hopefuls?

U.S.A. Virginia

So, after a few years of pre-requisites and co-requisites and getting used to school again after a break for a few decades, I finally submitted my application for the Traditional program at NOVA.

I have a feeling this is going to be a loooong 5 or so months of waiting.

Anyone else apply/applying?

Only another 4 weeks before we hear anything! :p

Hey everyone, I finally sent off my packet on May 8th as soon as my Micro grade posted..I was a little nervous that I wouldn't make it on time, but thank God everything worked out. Like most of you I have a few questions about the letter of receipt from the Nursing Division (as mentioned in the nursing application package) and how many spots were avaliable this year for the traditional nursing program. I was actually hoping that since the momentum program is suspended that maybe there would be more spots added to the traditional track since a whole program is now down, wishful thinking I guess lol.Anyway, I called the MEC today and had no luck whatsoever :( The student services rep kept repeating that letters will go out in four weeks and said there would be no letter of receipt coming and that one should tract their application package when mailing it in. I'm sure most of us did just that but I kinda wish there was still, at least, an email or something saying that they received our applications. I actually did ask how many spots were avaliable this year for the traditional program and she said they have no idea, I figured they wouldn't know but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway. I think about this application ALL day long! I really hope these four weeks go by fast. I also want to know how I stack up to the competition so here are my stats as requested:

GPA 3.7 cumulative TEAS 86% overall. I think Chamberlain school of nursing in Arlington is my #2 choice as well aj123 :)

All co reqs done except HUM elective. I feel like today the real count down begins, happy thoughts everyone :)

Traditional Fall '11 had a total of 151 cohorts, which later shrunk to 144 after a few declined their acceptance. Judging from the amount of available seats, there seems to be 142 for Traditional Fall '12. The number can, and will most likely, change within the next 4 weeks.

Do not be surprised if the acceptance letters are delayed. Summer '12 is one busy semester since OB, Psych, and Community-Based are all done within a 12-week period.

yay! You're GPA is definitely a lot better. But happy thoughts and faith will get us all through.

thanks for answering my request!

what is your GPA and TEAS, Etrips? if you do not mind me asking?

any of you taking summer school? If not accepted, any of you will try hybrid?

hello LPN-RN2012

I am applying to traditional RN not the LPN to RN track.

I hope i am on the right forum haha!

GPA: 4.0 Reading: 78.6 Math: 89 Grammar: 80

GPA 4.0. Reading: 90, Math: 96, and Grammar 86. The only thing I'm really worried about is that I came in with another college degree where my gpa was kind of low so I've been making up for it at nova. Hopefully they just count that a have a bachelor's and look at my gpa from nova ha :/. Does anyone know how they rate our applications? Good luck everyone! Hope we all get in!

These are good stats, guys. I don't know how they will do this admission process. I am just nervous.

I was a 3.8 then i took MTH 157 -which is the math in the program. Totally killed me. oh and Chem as well.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

are you all going to shoot for hybrid as well?????

If I don't get into this program then I may try for the Hybrid, but I'm not the biggest fan of online classes. I've been looking at other places around northern virginia but everything is so expensive! Hopefully we get in and don't have to worry!

Hey Everybody...this wait is driving me crazzzzy :uhoh3:

I heard the nursing dept ranks on a points system for GPA, TEAS score & whether or not you already have a degree of some sort. I guess that's a good thing b/c if you lack a high gpa you can make up for it in the TEAS test. Anyways my stats are 3.8 GPA, all co-reqs completed except HLT 250 & an 85% average on the TEAS V. I was wondering what everyone thought about the new TEAS V version...I found it a little more difficult than the TEAS IV when I have to go back to retake a couple of sections. Any thoughts?

By the way I'm not to worried abt the Momentum 2+1 being cancelled b/c students typically applying to that program haven't completed most of the pre-reqs required for the traditional so I don't thk we have much to worry about...hoping it gives us more seats in the traditional track this year though

Like TrulyBlessed said, I did send in my packet with tracking but I still called. I asked if there is a way that they could let me know if they have it and that it wasn't lost in a pile of mail. :-) I also asked if they could just tell me that everything on the application is correct, etc. I know I am being neurotic because I double & triple checked everything. I would just die if I sent everything in and did not dot an I correctly. :-) The person on the line just stated that there is no way for them to check whether or not it is there due to the high volume and that it should be sent with tracking. I guess I'll just have to wait.

As far as acceptance, they rank according to GPA, TEAS score, prior degree, and if you are a resident that supports the school system. Here are my stats:

GPA - 3.348 (lower than I'd like due to a class taken in 2002)

TEAS - Reading: 92.9, Eng: 80, Math: 80

No Prior Degree

Pre-Reqs were all A's with the exception of NAS 161 - B

Lifelong local (born @ Fairfax Hospital)

Currently taking PSY 201 and HLT 250 to lighten load if accepted. Already have credit for HLT 141.

Everyone on here looks like they have great stats! Good luck!
