  1. I think if memory serves right, under Blackboard there is a "Student Connect" tab and a new Nursing section under organizations should be there.
  2. Basic math. Shoot me an email and I can send you the study guide that they gave us. Etrips AT gmail DOT com
  3. That is correct. It is a pretty easy math test. Just brush up on how to do basic math (multiplication, long division, adding, subtracting). ALSO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. If it says round to the nearest hundredths, then they mean that!
  4. Hello all! Current NVCC 2014 Nursing student here. Congrats to everyone that has made it into the program! In regards to the background check/drug screen. Only the last portion of each section with the page that has a logo with a code on it needs to be uploaded onto CertifiedBackground. For orientation, you will want to print out those pages as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask! Also, if it was anything like last year, be prepared for an unorganized mess! Edit: Also feel free to add me to your Facebook group and I can answer any questions there! https://www.facebook.com/Etrips
  5. For your prereqs, I highly suggest you DO NOT go the NAS 161/162 route, as you will be completely locked in NVCCs nursing program. Apply to other schools other than NVCCs. I'm currently in the program, and while it is convenient location wise, if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't come here. But as of being accepted: GPA: 4.0 TEAS: Passed the English and Math portion easily, Grammar I barely passed Certs: CPR Also it shouldn't matter, but I really think it does to help boost their ethnic / gender ratio: Asian Male
  6. -Epocrates for random medical information, conversions, etc -Anki or Studyblue for flashcards -Random NCLEX type apps to study from while waiting in line (Lippincott, etc) -Voice recorder to record lectures. Then listen to lectures on my commute.
  7. This is really the wrong reason to be a nurse. I do not think it would be wise to keep on continuing on with your current state of health, both physically and emotionally with that goal. If you keep going on like this there may be some hope of you actually enjoying it, but at the same time you could keep on hating it.
  8. My biggest suggestion is to start practicing NCLEX style questions. Once you get into the nursing program, the tests/exams will be completely different from what you are used to. You have to think like a nurse using "critical thinking" methods in order to figure out the BEST answer. So either through apps, or books, start practicing early!
  9. I'm pretty much in the same boat. 5 hours of lecture and maybe only 10% of it is in the actual test. We even had a question that wasn't even in the textbook but rather the lab manual.
  10. So what do you suggest when the instructors don't even test you on anything they are teaching?
  11. I am currently a first year student at the MEC. Here is my breakdown. NUR 111 Lec - This is pretty straight forward, we have our main lecture from 12:15-2:55pm. Then we take a 30 minute break, then go for our second lecture which is broken down into smaller groups because we do more hands on work (ie: SOAP notes) this goes on from 3:30-5:30pm. NUR 111 Lab - 2 hours, there are a host of classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, with one or two selection on Thursdays. Clinicals - The reason why it is listed only 1 hour is because of their computer system. But you will be doing 7.5 hour clinical shifts. Currently the clinical days are on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on which ever day your lab is not on. There is one site that has clinicals on Saturdays. For the first semester, you will be assigned to your sites, and you have the option to switch with someone else if you can find someone to agree to switch. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  12. You will find out during the orientation I would think.
  13. Yea doesn't show up on mobile for whatever reason. Went to the full site and the group showed up.
  14. Do you have a link? Or could you add me? Etrips AT gmail DOT com
  15. I'm a male student as well, I took Dr. ****'s class though!
