starting from scratch

I am currently looking into a nursing program in the hampton roads area. I came across a few schools. I have my AAS in Medical assisting from MCI 2005. Since their credits dont transfer, I have to start from scratch unless I go back to them. I refuse because they are to expensive for their RN program. There is another school called fortis college in Norfolk, but they are also a for profit school that is over priced, and their cerdits wont transfer either. It looks like I will be going to a CC, which is great, but I will have to take pre'reqs. The pre'reqs that I will need were all taken at MCI, but they wont transfer. Its my own fault. I should have researched this before going through with the program. Im not sure if all online schools will except credits from non accredited schools, but The University of Phoenix was willing to do so. They just didnt have the program that I was looking for. Where can I take pre'reqs in the hampton roads area? How long do pre'reqs take if you go fulltime?

If I use the GI Bill, would I also be able to get other financial assistance? I DO NOT want to get another huge loan. If I dont use the GI BILL would I be able to get grants, financial aide, and maybe a small loan?

Well if you get the Post 9/11 GI Bill you will have everything covered since they are a Yellow Ribbon School. I literally pay ZERO dollars for school and that includes books and supplies. Then I get BAH on top of it. I am not sure about other things open, but I did do my FAFSA and I did not qualify for anything. I do write off any expenses at the end of year, but this year I will not have any. Financial aid at the school is really great though and they break it all down.

Is the bachelors program still 2 yrs or so?

I have no idea how long their BSN program is, but I do know you have to be a working nurse for one year before you can even start it.

Are the A&P classes really hard?

For me A&P 1 and 2 were a breeze and micro is more difficult. I can tell you that more then half my class failed A&P1.

Are the mods 5 weeks long?

Mods are 5 weeks long and it is 16 weeks of info. It is tough but it is just like military A-school. If you apply yourself you can do it, but be prepared to be married to MCI for 16 months.

What is the entrance exam like?

The entrance exams are easy they cover the basic subjects: Math, Science, English. You do not get a grade, you get an average. So to score really high in some categories you only need a 80 to be "top dog" among people who take the exams. I scored a 90 on one of them and was in the 98th percentile or something crazy like that. It was awhile ago so I do not remember the exact scores and percentiles.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hey thanks for all the answers, they really heloped
