TCC to NSU or ODU
I want to thank everyone for your input and answers to all of my questions, but I have decided to take the long road. I'll be going to TCC or TCC and NSU. The way I see it, shorter isnt always better, especially if its at MCI. Although I though MCI was a good school, and I understand why the credits wont transfer(within the school), I'd rather not use the GI Bill right noiw. Maybe I'll use it when I go for my bachelors. Havent made up my mind about that part yet. Does anyone know If we could use the GI Bill more than once? I have two middle schoolers that may need to use it. Im not real sure how that works. The last time I looked into it, they said we only had 36 months.

TCC to NSU or ODU
No, it helps. Im going to be doing the same thing. My cousin is currently a student at MCI(LPN) and she said that someone there told her that she could go to NSU for her RN in 9 months after she finishes at MCI. I told her that it was just to good to be true. Have you heard anything about this ridiculous lie. I just cant believe that MCI credits will transfer ANYWHERE. pLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME. I want a bachelors in nursing so I will be going to school for a very long time. I understand that I have to first become a licensed nurse, before I can enter into a bachelors program. Does that sound right, or am I misunderstanding? I may or maynot use my husbands GI Bill, so I may or may not go back to MCI. If I did that, I would still have to go back to them for my bachelors. AAAAAHHHHH!!!Giving my money to MCI three times is pretty stupid. Anyway, thanks for your help.:heartbeat:mad:

TCC to NSU or ODU
Ok, so Im still trying to find out what I am going to do. I am a MA graduate from MCI and none of my credits will transfer to another school(my own fault). I so desperately want to be an RN. I do not wish to go to school for LPN, only to go back for RN. I want to cut out the middle man and just do it now. I want to go to a school. The problem is that I dont want to go to school for 3 or more years. Thats my dillema. So I was thinking I should just forget about the fast route, and take my time doing pre'reqs and hope I get into the program at a CC or university. If I take pre'reqs at TCC, and transfer to NSU or ODU, how long will that whole process take. I understand that the sciences will be the long part of the pre'reqs. Has anyone been through this process or going through the process right now. Any info would be so helpful. What about the entrance exam for NSU or ODU after your pre'reqs are done? If I take my pre'reqs at TCC, how long will I have to wait to appy for the nursing program else where...or there for that matter.

If I use the GI Bill, would I also be able to get other financial assistance? I DO NOT want to get another huge loan. If I dont use the GI BILL would I be able to get grants, financial aide, and maybe a small loan?

starting from scratch
Hey, thanks a lot. So the NN and the Va Beach campus have the bachelors program. I will be using the GI Bill too, its still a bunch of money though. My husband will be going back to school as well soon. Its not so bad that they wont take my MA credits, as long as I can get it done sooner rather than later. Is the bachelors program still 2 yrs or so? I really dont know what I want to do. Are the A&P classes really hard? Are the mods 5 weeks long? What is the entrance exam like? Sorry for all the questions, but I can get more answers from you, than I can by calling the school.

I hear you! I wont be going to another school like those either. It was a lesson learned. Going to a CC is so time consuming, but if you want it you gotta go for it. Im so annoyed. I thought about going back to MCI so I could get it done faster, plus I wouldnt have to do pre'reqs. I just cant see paying all that money. Does anyone know if their program is a bachelors program?

By the way, does anyone know how much the nursing program is at TCC?

Thank you guys for your input. HoneyGamble, I did take Bio in high school, but I will talk to a counselor to see where I stand. So the hold up would be science? I can take a class online. Is that in addition to any other pre'reqs I may be taking? I dont know much about cc. Have you been back to school since you finished at Kee? I want to go to TCC or Thomas Nelson Community College(TNCC). They seem to be by best options. How long is a semester in CC? After high school, the only other school I attended was MCI and they had 5 week mods...and on to the next set of classes. Im hoping to complete my pre'reqs and nuring program in less than 3 yrs. Is this realistic?

starting from scratch
I am currently looking into a nursing program in the hampton roads area. I came across a few schools. I have my AAS in Medical assisting from MCI 2005. Since their credits dont transfer, I have to start from scratch unless I go back to them. I refuse because they are to expensive for their RN program. There is another school called fortis college in Norfolk, but they are also a for profit school that is over priced, and their cerdits wont transfer either. It looks like I will be going to a CC, which is great, but I will have to take pre'reqs. The pre'reqs that I will need were all taken at MCI, but they wont transfer. Its my own fault. I should have researched this before going through with the program. Im not sure if all online schools will except credits from non accredited schools, but The University of Phoenix was willing to do so. They just didnt have the program that I was looking for. Where can I take pre'reqs in the hampton roads area? How long do pre'reqs take if you go fulltime?

Trying to find out how long the tcc rn program is
Thank you for your help BOB_N_VA. This is exactly what I was looking for. I had a few questions. How long did it take to complete your pre'reqs if you went fulltime at TCC? How do you actually get into the program at Riverside? Is there an entrance exam? If so, what are the subjects. Each school is different from what I understand. Thanks a million!

Trying to find out how long the tcc rn program is
Hi, I am thinking about going to fortis college in norfolk, va, but I keep hearing bad things about the school. It has one or two advantages, but way more disadvantages. The only other school with an accelerated program is MCI. They are also not accredited...and waaay to expensive. Whats the point in going to a school where the credits dont transfer, just in case you want to further your education. Its crazy to me to pay all that money once, but twice... i dont think so. They want you to come back to that school, and spend more money. Its a cycle. I was wondering if anyone knew how long the rn programs is at tcc? Including pre'reqs and all, and how much.

Fortis College
Hi, Im suppose to start at Fortis in Norfolk in June, but Im having second thoughts about it. Did you have any problems with the test? What is the Hesi exam like? I hear that if you are not already an LPN then you cant get into the program. Is this true? I have an associates in MA, but nothing in LPN.
