I am also Starting UTA soon....I take Prof. NRsg A and Tech Writing beginning 9/26. I was wondering if we actually need the online access code for the "Concise Guide to Tech Communication" book, or if we ONLY utilize the book?

Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!!!

    Hi ICURN99,

I am currently in my last week of both those classes and Yes, u will need the mytechlab access. You will take two non-graded test on that site that count as participation credit for 100 points each. Then based those results you will we assigned weekly assisnments to do. If you score high enough on those "diagnostic test". Then you will not have to do the weekly assignments. Hope that helps.

Can anyone tell me how UTA's online program is? Is it really doable? Is there support from the school/academic coaches? I am still waiting for the actual acceptance to the Nursing program and the course mapping in order to take classes or the 9/26 start date. Reading all these remarks about UTA is making me consider OU...I hope to start taking Tech writing & first nursing class on 9/26. Is there anyone out there who is nearing the RN to BSN program with UTA who can shed some light/advice about this program? Any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I finally received my map today and I think I am going to bite the bullet and start with Tech writing and Prof Nursing A on the 26th. My map has two classes that I don't think I need so I am trying to get that resolved. I have also seriously considered OU but frankly I would rather take an extra class or two and know about it at the start than deal with the stress of the unknown. It sounds like students at OU are partway through the program before they get a final transcript eval, and I know I can't handle that. The pre-req classes that I need don't bother me because they are in areas I enjoy studying anyway.

Do most people buy their books for these classes are rent? I would love some good suggestions for the cheapest way to go.

    Thanks!

I've been buying my books on Amazon and find the cheapest used price. I am also starting with these 2 classes on the 26th! I'm glad to see someone else that will be starting the same time as me.

I'm sure we don't have the same books, but I've found my textbooks are cheaper renting than I could find on either ebay, half, or amazon- even used. I only bought one I knew I'd use throughout my program. (Replying here was easier than texting all that =D)

Alias007, what have you thought of taking those classes at the same time? What is the workload like for both? Do you have lots of papers, quizes, etc? I would appreciate any advice.

Jelly221, fancy meeting you here Where have you been renting your books? I know I will just buy some of them but there are a few that make sense to rent.

ICURN099, do you plan to take a second class with Prof Nursing B? I might do one of my prereq classes but I am worried about overloading myself.

Professional Nursing A & B are the same. They are just divided half way but they have one final grade. I enjoyed the class. Prof Nursing B is a lil more in-dept than A. I discovered that the general-ed classes are very condensed and demanding (at least most of them) than even the nursing classes. I love UTA so far and Im looking forward to getting these classes done so I can have my life back . Good luck guys!

    Hello everyone,
I am currently enrolled in my first semester at UTA, actually, the two classes I'm in now end today. I have 4 Gen Ed requirements left, but I already received credit for Tech Writing so I can enroll in Prof Nurs. A/B the next time it rolls around (Nov. 7). I have Fed Govt, State Govt, US Hist 1311, and College Algebra left to take. I was thinking of starting College Algebra on Oct 24, then the Prof. Nursing A class on Nov.7. Does anyone suggest a better idea? Should I just take all of the gen ed courses first? I really just want to get this program over with as quickly as possible.

Hi, I have finished 4 classes so far, and have 3 more general education classes. I took Professional Nursing A and B, then decided I am going to finish all the general education first. They are annonying so I just want to get them out of the way, plus the writing experience gained in them will help when all the nursing classes start I think.
    Good Luck!

Can you tell me which gen Ed classes you have taken? I need Art, Govt (US & texas) and Literature. I think I may start one of the Government classes next week and would love advice on either. This would make next week very busy since I would be in the first week of the new class, and last week of Tech writing and Prof Nursing A. So it would be one painful week, but could save me a lot of time later. Again, let me know what you think!
