I am in complete agreement that the agencies need nurses, not the other way around. My husband and I will be traveling in the next couple of months, and I want to have my pick of agencies/assignements/perks, but to start off I am going to limit it to 5 companies. I've already done some agency work with HRN, and worked with American Mobile years ago, so these will be two of the 5. I've heard great things about Valley (and seen on highway hypodermics), so they will probably be number 3. That leaves two openings...any suggestions? I am also getting confused as to what companies are under other comapnies....any suggestions would be very welcome!!!!:)

Thanks!:D

P.S.

We woulod like to be in the Pacific North West/Northern California/Alaska area if at all possible. Colorado would be another option.

Unfortunatly finding the company you can work with is up to you. For me it's the recuiter. If they are responsive and informative I will stay with the company. Lots of times the recruiters move and I no longer remain with the company. At one time I tried to juggle 10 companies and finally got down to two. You need to know where you have been submitted and ensure you don't submit to one hospital via two companies and lots of other stuff. To me it is just too difficult to keep more than a couple companies at once. That may be why you have had no response.

Good luck,

Good point. I travelled years ago, and after my recruiter left I was assigned one who I did not like at all, so I started shopping around. I agree-it gets very confusing very quickly. I am just a little nervous that the jobs aren't out there...figured I would increase the odds?

There is no set answer to what you're asking.

"Travel Companies"? How about just where you are looking to travel.

East Coast, West Coast, Heartland?

There is no blanket response because different companies cater to different areas.

Although most companies can offer you open orders from anywhere there are certain advantages to affiliating with companies in specific regions. Just sayin'...

Oh, and look for MANY pitfalls in the AMN business model that are less than traveler-friendly. Traveled with AMN/NursesRx for 3 years and they aren't the best choice right now. Many problems. Entertain contracts with them @ your own peril.

Appreciate the input. As I said in the P.S. in the original post, we are kind of geared towards the PNW. Since we are newish, we probably will either get $$$ or location, but probably bot both (yes?).

What companies are there that specialize in these areas?
