I am considering travel this year, my question is...does anyone else travel w/small children? Will the recruiter help to arrange child care or is it up to me?

How does one arrange child care at a distance?

Hi All,

I'd like to, and would be interested in the answer as well.

Specializes in ER, NICU, NSY and some other stuff.

I am currently finishing an assignment that I brought my 2 year old along with me. I called the HR dept at the hospital that I interviewed for and a short time later one of the girls in the HR dept called me and referred me to the person who cared for her own children. She had asked the sitter about the particulars of my proposed schedle (Nights and weekends). I got into contact with the sitter and spoke at length with her several times before I got here and felt very at peace. I then accepted the assignment conditionally upon getting there and meeting her.

For me it worked out wonderfully, my child adores this woman and her family, who have adopted us into their family.

You can also ask the unit manager if she personally knows of anyone or if the staff can provide any reccomendations.

I tgave me some peace long distance that she came with a personal vote of confidence, though I did worry a bit as I know that not everyone is as picky about who keeps their kids as I am. B ut has worked well for me and my first assignment.

The only problem I am seeing now is how much my little one is going to miss this family when we go back home.

Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions.

p.s. I f you find a company that will assist you in finding childcare let me know.

thats a great question. I will be in the same situation in 2 years, when i plan to start travelling with my then-4-year old!
