Hello,
At one of my clinical sites there is a travel nurse. She always says things like "oh, I am the scum travel nurse." Last week she told me she loves being a travel nurse because when you are on an assignment with difficult nurses you know it is only temporary. But then she will say something negative like above. I try to ask her questions about being a traveling nurse but either she doesn't like me or she just isn't very chatty.
I thought travel nursing was glamorous, are travel nurses treated poorly? If so, why? Are they looked down on?

Different people / Nurses, different "attitudes". Sad to read, it sounds like this Nurse has a poor attitude and may have been treated poorly.
It has been my experience, that I have been treated well, for the most part in the many years I have experienced Agency Nursing and Nurse Entrepreneurship. I have had some bad experiences but it is safe to say it was based on an unfriendly Nurse not necessarily the attitude of the facility I was contracted for.
Feel free to read through the many threads on this Forum and Agency Nursing:

These Forums are dedicated to those Nurse Specialties that Travel, work for Agencies (local or long distance), or those that Independently or Subcontract to facilities or provide Nursing Services as a Business.
