The single best way to do housing here in the Bay Area is via Craigslist.

Housing is expensive. Be prepared!

Do you think it's better idea to accept company's housing than taking the housing stipend itself here in the Bay Area? I'm traveling with family and I'm just afraid a low hourly isn't going to support us.

Better idea how? If you want the best of both worlds, check your agency's offer with supplied housing versus stipend and see if you can get a better deal getting your own before committing to either option or neither.

Hey Ned,

Did you just contact their housing department directly to get info on availability? Was the house share a stanford university dorm?

And why dont you just let them put u up in an apartment for a month. While u find a place. On your own..then move. They can do that sometimes

An agency may be able to put you up short term in an extended stay but not an apartment. So can a traveler. So the stipend would still be better with your idea.
