Rights as a travel nurse

Hi, i just found out that the hospital i signed a contract with has pushed back the start date from march to may. I have already put in my two weeks notice, and bought my plane ticket. Can they just do that after a contract was signed? I'm sure if i broke a contract i would have to pay the agency or something like that. What are my rights in this situation? What should i d0? My recruiter says she will try her best to get me a new assignement, but it may not be in LA where i wanted to go. Please help

Good luck. I would think your agency would be the one to answer this question, and I'm sorry they aren't able to help you.

A lot depends on the company, the contract itself and what sort of job it was. Strike contracts are broken or delayed frequently.

But one thing to always remember is there are no absolute guarantees in traveling.

I would definitly start looking for a new position. If your agency can not find you anything in the LA area then there are over 230 other agencies that probably can. I would og tho Delphi Forums. They have a forum caleed TNT Traveling Nurses and Therapists. There you will find a lot of great info plus there is a drop down box at the top that will take you to a recruiters forum where they post positions by hospital units. There are always a lot of great positions there and if not there is a section where you can post for agencies to contact you . Just tell them whefre you want to go and the agencies will write you back stating where they have positions open. Good luck with your travels and go to Delphi and read read read and you will learn so much.
