So, this is the big question on my mind. . . Can you be a travel nurse during a recession. Will there be travel jobs in a time of economic instability?

I'd love to hear from travelers that have been through more economically stable times. Do you ride it out? Do you go staff?

I'm sure that there are many out there like me that can't go without a paycheck.

Any input would help. Thanks!

I'm riding it out right now. I have been looking for my next assignment for the last 3 weeks. I still have not found anything. I did limit the search area in the beginning, but now have extended it. I am mainly looking in the southeast. My current contract ends this Wednesday. I have been picking up extra shifts at local hospital so I have some extra $$$ to help cover if I have to go beyond assignment.

You can do it if you are more flexible during these times. There are jobs out there, but you may need to compromise in terms of location, type of facility, etc. For instance, my current contract is about 2000 miles from the area I preferred to be in and in a different type of hospital than my preference (in terms of size and some other factors) but I've got a contract.
