Just wondering if anyone has traveled with Onward Healthcare and had any comments? I'm thinking about going with them for my next assignment.

I can't speak from personal experience, or even other folk's comments, but I can provide some background that may be useful or interesting. Kevin Clark was the key person who started Cross Country with other family members. Cross Country was the original 800 pound gorilla and dominated the travel nurse market for a number of years after growing exponentially, eventually overtaken in size by American Mobile. He left Cross Country in 1995 after selling a majority of shares to an investment group. Shortly afterwards (not sure of the exact year, but I'd guess 1997), he started Onward. It quickly became a large agency, but not as big as Cross Country or American Mobile. As of January 2015, it is now an American Mobile agency. I assume it is now fully integrated and has access to all of American Mobile's assignments (which as the largest agency in the country, is a lot)!

A small warning: American Mobile is currently engaged in some questionable business practices in sending travelers out for collections, potentially dinging their credit rating. They decide unilaterally that travelers owe costs if an assignment cancels - in one memorable case without even a signed contract with the traveler and in another case several weeks before a contract was scheduled to begin. This is perhaps legal, but deplorable tactics nevertheless. This particular risk is higher for a new traveler than an experienced traveler, but there are so many agencies, why pick one with bad business practices?

They are apart of AMN now. I am with them for this contract and have had a horrid experience. Will never work with them again... plus I hate AMN
