North Carolina vs Tennessee

Hi guys, I'm just looking for suggestions for my next travel assignment. I'm thinking about doing North Carolina or Tennessee in mountain areas starting end of July/August. Besides that I have no clue where. I work NICU, with 2.5 years of level 3 experience. Any suggestions on good hospitals to travel to or fun places to live in? Also what's the pay like there? Thanks!

I prefer TN, but I was born there so I may be bias. Nashville usually has a few good assignments with decent pay for the southeast and it's a cool city. North Carolina I've heard mixed things about working as a travel nurse there. Although in NC you would have the coastline near by possible depending on where in NC you went. TN takes about 2 months to get the license, I've heard NC can take just as long.

Asheville for a cool town and mountains.

My buddy and his wife live in Asheville while he's in CRNA school out there. They love it. It's very nature friendly, hipster, organic, vegan, artistic, compost toilets, unique restaurants, etc. His friends take old wood pallets and create repurposed desks out there. ;)

Pick TN: no income taxes. Visit NC on your off days.

Unless the OP already lives in a no income tax state, or is itinerant for tax purposes, there is no advantage in traveling to a low or no income tax state. You will still owe state income taxes to your home state. So no tax benefit to working in TN versus NC for most travelers (other than having to fill out one less tax return at the end of the year).
