International Nursing Companies (outside of US)

Hello all-
I would like to first introduce myself and my situation (so you may get a better feeling of what I am looking for). My name is Nik and I am 28 y/o single male. I currently live in Lubbock Tx and work at our Level 1 trauma center in the EC. I have been employed with this company for 7 years in October- 4 years as a tech, 3 as an RN. I have my RN licence and EMT certification, plan on taking my CEN in November of this year. I have grown up my entire life in this hospital. I would now like to travel but for longer stents (greater than 13wks). I only have EC training and would like to stay in this area of medicine. Also, my only language is english.
I am looking for companies that cater to US nurses looking for other countries. UK, Ireland, Saudi/UAE, Australia, New Zealand, ect. So far I have found:

O'Grady Peyton

HCI International

If you could please help me with other companies I would greatly appreciate it. Also please include your opinion of these companies or others that you would recommend or not recommend. I am not looking into moving till after winter since I own my house and need to figure out what I am going to do with it.
Thank you all for your help!
Nik

Hey there,

I've been looking into international travel nursing for a little while, just waiting for myself to take the first step. I was browsing through some travel companies and I found Premier Healthcare Professionals (PHP). The group has company owned offices in London, Sydney and Johannesburg and it is from these offices that it places nurses throughout the UK, Australia and South Africa. Their website is:
www.travelphp.com

I've never actually delt with the company...but I think its one that is worth looking into if you're interested. Best of luck

Also another tip is that is is much much easier/faster for US Nurses to get licensed in Australia or New Zealand or the UAE (ie: Dubai) than it is in the United Kingdom right now. Recently, The UK started requiring American nurses to physically go to the UK in advance, take a course over there lasting about 5 weeks (without working!), pass a test, and then return home, wait (weeks/months) for the results and processing before the license is issued. Unless you are relocating there, its really not a realistic destination right now for an "overseas stint".

the ONP with the NMC has been ongoing for several years and is applicable to all overseas nurses from outside the EU. Plus unless your experience in an area on the UK occupation shortage list it is hard to get a work permit. The UK like the US is having a lot of unemployment issues at the moment and I have a few family members and friends who are suffering to find a job.

I too am interested in international travel nursing. I am continually frustrated with how difficult it is to go abroad to work when I constantly work with nurses from many countries here. Why is it so easy for everyone come here to work, but it's damn near impossible for us to go overseas to work. Argggghhhh! Anyway, here's another company to add to the mix. I have no idea how they are to work with...I'm still racking up experience to be able to be considered.
Anyone have the 411 on Continental?? http://continentaltravelnurse.com/index.php

Since Oct 06 it has not been easy for foreign nurses to come to the US and work. Many have been caught up in retrogression and are still waiting for a visa enabling them to live and work in the US.
