Can fiance and I be placed at same hospital as travel nurses?

My fiance and I are still in nursing school, but we have been searching various options for when we graduate and get a few years experience under our belts. We get excited at the mention of "travel nurse" and even get on here and read together so we can get even more pumped! My concern is that when/if we become travel nurses, will we get to choose the same hospital? I mean, I don't want to walk down the halls holding hands:blushkiss: or make "googly eyes" :bugeyes:all day, but it would be nice (at least for the first few assignments) to be working in the same hospital. Thanks in advance!!!

I don't see where it would be a problem, as long as you were in different departments of the hospital. Why don't you call around to a few of the top travel nurse agencies to see what their individual policies are? I know of one married couple who traveled together without any problems, but I don't remember which agency they were with (I think it was Fastaff).

I have seen husband and wife work the same unit; why we have a Moderator here on AllNurses who occasionally get floated to the same unit. This "duo" have been married many years and have a great working relationship.

There are very few hospitals that only need one traveler--most need several. You shouldn't have any problems traveling to the same hospital. Just let your recruiter know that both of you would like to travel. The travel company will love the savings on housing (make sure you see that savings reflected in your pay check!) As long as you have a very good working relationship I wouldn't think it would be a problem to work in the same unit. Your recruiter would have to check with individual hospitals to find out if they have a policy against this. I know some couples who work well together and others that needed to be on different shifts/days. ;)

I have met quite a few couples traveling together. A few working on the same units/same shifts and a couple where the hospital would not allow them to work in the same departments. I think it varies by hospital policy. For the most part I would not think it to be a problem.

My girlfriend and I travel together, and are currently placed in the same hospital. I work ICU and she works IMC, but it is a small hospital and both units are closely connected. The managers have been very generous in giving us very similar schedules, so we can spend our days off together. We both know that we're lucky, and probably won't have that luxury on future assignments.

Yes you can. I place nurses a all the time in shared housing with On Assignment. If the agency you are working with doesn't do this then you may want to work withone that does. Please feel free to contact m eif you would like to talk.
