I read a lot of loved ones left home, or people lonely while traveling, but I am curious about ones who bring a close friend, girlfriend/boyfriend, spouse, etc with you. I want to know, aside from you both traveling as a nurse, what did this other person do to pass the time while you were working?... Did they find a temp job?..work online?..sight see? raise children?.. etc

Curious if there are any jobs that worked well for your "partner" while you went from assignment to assignment..

I brought my husband and son with me. He homeschools our son and my days off we explore our area. It was a way for us to explore the country together.

Me too. Except, our son is too young for school, but I am interested in Home School in case I can't find a permanent job in a year or two. As he is suppose to attend Kindergarten then. =)

My husband is with me and everyone assumes he must be a travel nurse too. But he's not! He has a job working from online, commission based, so some weeks he works a lot and others not at all. He volunteers one day a week usually. He also usually does all the grocery shopping, keeps the house clean, and we have dinner together every night! He also rides his motorcycle Or goes on long bicycle rides. It's been great that he has freedom bc now we are free to explore on my days off and not worry about conflicting schedules. He used to be a bartender for 10 years, so he could easily pick up a part time gig for easy cash, but so far, we are enjoying freedom more then anything! We don't ever want to go back to working opposite shifts. Also, I've come to realize that money isn't everything, and having time together is more important then busting our tails for an extra buck. Of course, we had paid off all our debt before we started traveling that way we weren't too stressed. Now that was hard work and I'm glad it's behind me!

My husband def went through an adjustment period when we first started. It's hard to work from home if you're not used to it. He had to adjust to having so much free time. After he got used to it, we began to truly enjoy total freedom! Good luck! If you have any other suggestions for the sig other, let me know!

What kind of work does your husband do? My husband travels with me too and he isn't a nurse! We love it! However sometimes he gets a little bored and I would love for him to have a job like your husband, working from home! Please do tel! Thanks!

Well, it's kind of a job that he just got luck with. His boss was an old regular customer of his and his boss' company is very small. He buys and sells timber and land via Internet while in communication with a forester from SC. It's a job that he had to know someone to get him in, not really one that he found randomly or could be shared. But it is a decent job, he makes commission off deals that close, and so therefore can work as often as he wants. Working from home is just about as boring as just sitting t home unfortunately! He's not really the sit at home type so we are exploring other options...
