hi everyone, well it has been a year since i have been a nurse and i want more variety :-)

i was seeing if anyone knows any good companies for single parents. i have a 2 yr old. we would not necessarily need 2 bedrooms, but if we are more than 50 mile from home i would like daycare. and would he be covered on my insurance?

i know its a stretch to even think of traveling with zak, but i want to and he is still young.

i would like a company close to home (like 50 miles), so i get the housing and wouldn't have to truck my son back anf forth each day. i live in mentor ohio, so i would look in the cleveland/west side area.

any advice would be great.

im looking into access nurses and they have my profile out to hospitals but no job as of yet.

thanks everyone!!

If you want a travel company, you can look at Cross Country Trav Corp. I have worked with them for many years. You have to decide though if you want to move around or not. From your post it sounds like you don't. If you work less than 50miles from your home, the housing subsidy they provide will be taxed like regular wages. You only get that tax free if you travel more than 50mi from your tax home.

If you want to move around, they provide free private housing. No company will pay for daycare. If you are interested in trying out some of the hospitals in the Cleveland area, look at a company callled First Assist. They are a local agency and pay quite well. They have benefits if you maintain 30/hours a week. I do some work with them and it is pretty good. Good luck and feel free to PM if you like!:lol2:

You need to be more than the 50 miles in order for you to get the housing as tax free, and you still must maintain a legal address there, so that may not work for you.

As far as insurance, you will be paying the part for your child, the agency will not pay it.

Many hospitals now want two years of experience, so you may not get too many bites on less than that. The agency can tell you only one, but it is the facility that makes the decision, not the agency.

Best of luck to you.

well i have talked to a few companies and they all seem to work with me for my needs. they wont pay daycare but the housing a lot of them are willing to do. The only problem....NO L&D in the cleveland area....go figure:uhoh3:

Janine SNLCC, How are you doing? reading your post is as if I was writing my own too.

I am dying to do travel nursing, and I too have a 2 year old girl--- and I know yours must be 3 by now.

Did you finally get to do the travel nursing? if so, how was it??

I don't know if you made it traveling but I am a single parent as well an as far as health insurance you can get your own. I got a quote for me and my child for 200/month. Most reputable companies will give you a stipend or increase your per hourly pay if you do this. Plus you won't lose or have to change insurance if you change agencies. The stipend I was quoted was 30/wk
