Like I posted in another thread, I always look forward to my next travel job because I always make a couple of lifelong friends and the rest of my coworkers I get along very well. I also enjoy learning about the quirks of that area, the freedom to take time off when I want, etc. But with my staff positions, I have always dreaded work. Not because of politics or commitees, but my coworkers! Maybe its just my area-the only staff position that I've had, I dont know. A good friend of mine is now staff at a hosp in NYC , she said its very non-cliquish and the nurses dint really talk to eachother unless its work related and she loves it - her last job was at a hospital here and she has always had the same issues as me - did not mesh well with staff. But when I take a travel job 2 hours away or so, I feel like I am in heaven.

Oh good. That's exactly why I want to get into travel nursing. I hate the BS of being staff. It's very cliquey where I work. And even worse, the cliques are divided into race and they all speak their own languages to each other! I hate that. When the staff does get together as a whole it's usually to bash one person or management. I'm at the point of my career where I just want to go to work, mind my own business, care for my patients and get a paycheck. I don't care who's sleeping with whom, I don't want to fight for vacation days, and I'm not giving you my answers to the annual competency exam. I love what I do but I hate doing it at that particular hospital. I figure travel nursing would be perfect because when I get sick of the environment I can move on.
