I started with core medical last Sept and am on my 2nd assignment. So far they have been very nice and call about once every 2 weeks to see how things are going. Problem is the pay is not that great. They tell me it is what is the rate in the area. I'm in VT at the present time and they have a union, so their pay is posted in a book on the unit. I bring home roughly 650 per week plus housing allowance of 356 per week. insurance cost me about 120 per week due to needing coverage for my family. Does this seem to be the going rate? I have not signed up with anyone else, because i really like the people at the company. Should I check around? My husband is a nurse also and he just signed up with them also. Appreciate the information.

A union at the hospital has nothing to do with how you will be paid, or what you will be paid if you are there thru an agency.

It sounds low to me without knowing more specifics. And I have never heard a thing about them. Are they local or a national company?

Coremedical is located in NH and they help you find a job all over the US. They have about 300 travelers ( i think). The place that I am working at I love and will sign on for another 13 week period.

It sounds like you are not getting the best end of this deal. I have a friend that took one assignmnet with Core....they were not the most honest bunch. They sent her to a very unsafe facility (which will happen)....a new traveler wanted to go to the same hospital but wanted to talk to a nurse already there....the recruiter made excuses why she couldn't put her in contact with the nurses already there. And this same recruiter called the nurse manager & told her my friend wanted to extend....then she called my friend & told her the nurse manager wanted her to extend! Lots of Lies! My friend would have never extened and never wanted to because of the conditions. Plus they had her paying for insurance, way too much for just her.....the insurance sucks for families....but you shouldnt have to pay that much for insurance. check with some other places about independent insurance for your kids if that's the case. You may go with BCBS for Children's Major Medical or something... Let me guess....are you making about $20 bucks an hour? I did take one assignment at $22 an hour but my housing was $2600 a month.....check around....sounds like you are getting "screwed"....

That's exactly what i make. My housing is 2600 per month and I make 16.50 plus 5.63 per hour per deim. I really do like the place where i am working. The manager and the stff want me to stay permantly, but that is not what i want to do. yes, the insurance is very high, i will have to check into something else. Do others sign up with more than one agenc? how is that done?

i'm taking my first assignment starting on monday, i'm going with a good company, i've researched tons of agencies, including core, and by far they are the most dishonest i've talked to, you are definitly being screwed, they tried the low pay, insurance and everything else you described,i didn't feel comfortable..so i checked around..i'm going to fla., which is hard to get decent rates, but still..i choose not to accept the insurance and i'll be getting 19.50 an hour, free 2 bedroom furnished private housing, utilities paid, travel allowance..and my recruiter has been up front and honest the whole way, changed anything i didn't like,..i'm an lpn..so the rate i though was decent,..core wanted to give me 16.00....me pay for my insurance, and put me in a hotel..not! research..there are really good companies..premeir health professionals is who
