I'm headed to NCH in Naples this winter and I'd love to know if anyone else is too. If you're returning there, I'd love to hear about your experiences too! Thanks!

I applied and interviewed to work in NCH. I recieved an offer but did not feel I was a good fit for the unit I interviewed for. Hopefully I can get placed else where, I would love to head there for the winter.

Hi everyone,I have an interview this week to work in the SICU at Naples. I'm looking at the 3 or 4 month option. Does anyone know what rate that would be? Anyhow hope to see a few of you this winter!

It depends if you take the housing and or benefits. I took both housing and benefits and my hourly pay rate will be the same as I am making now at my "regular" job. Of course my "regular" job isn't providing housing. If you just take the straight pay, the hourly rate is in the $40s.

Hey!! So I came across NCH seasonal nursing jobs a few months ago and have been thinkin about it ever since but wasn't sure if this was a good opportunity. Plus I didn't want to get stuck down there for 6 months by myself with nothing to do!! How many of you are officially going? Also, I'm curious how this housing works since it sounds like I would be applying late? I thought they gave an $800 stipend, was I mistaken? Thanks for any input!!!

I am officially going. I will be working at the North Naples campus. Yes, they give you $800 housing stipend if you don't take their apartment, which I believe are all booked up by now.Go ahead and fill out the app online, and the recruiter will call you and answer your questions. It takes a while for the Florida license to go through, so you need to get started asap if you dont already have your license. I am excited about it. I think it will be fun. It seems like a nice hospital from everything I have read here and elsewhere. Even if you get bored, at least you can be bored in the warm sunshine. I know this thread is old, but my wife and I are moving to Naples in October...i am an adult icu nurse and she is a nicu/icu pediactrics nurse with a lot of experience. I was wondering about the pay, the housing or stipen, and the overall condition of the hospital? Did any of you have an option to renew your contracts at the end? any info would be great and if anyone did take the housing option what were the apartments like...i have a 4 month old son as well so kinda want to figure out the living conditions?

This isn't your question but be aware that everything you make, including housing, must be taxed. If you are going to take in-house travel, that is the way Naples will treat your income no matter your tax home. But if you take an agency job, you need to make sure that they tax your stipend or housing. You may be better off just taking staff positions.

Hi, denver nurse! I arrived in Naples in early January and I'm done in a few weeks. I have had a great experience at NCH. The staff has been friendly and the hospital makes an effort to recognize you for your efforts. I opted for the flat hourly rate, which is currently $43.50 for day and $48.50 for nights PLUS differential. HOWEVER, if you need health insurance, one of you may want to opt for the lower hourly rate. I THINK you have to opt for a 6-month contract to qualify for health insurance. As long as you're competent and a good team player, you're asked back. I'm returning in October.

NCH is a 2-hospital system with a total of 715 beds. One is in Downtown Naples and the other is 15 or so minutes away in North Naples. The weather is terrific, the beaches are beautiful, and there's a lot to do within 1-2 hours. However, it is expensive here. I imagine the average home price is $1 million (with many more in the $5-10 million range). With that said, housing can be hard to come by "in season." I would recommend that you check out the rental guide online (distributed in grocery stores for free). A lot of apartment complexes have 7-month leases and their average rent is $1,100-1,300 a month for a two-bedroom apartment.

So here is our situation: We are moving to Naples in mid September with an 8 month old son. I am attending crna school there for the next two and a half years and my wife will be looking for employment during that time to help with expenses and such.

I know that NCH offers several different types of commitments for the seasonal workers. I was wondering what ones you think might be best for us being there for 28 months? We will def need health insurance but it might be cheaper to take the high pay and find our own insurance? Did you pick up health insurance on your own? I have to have the mandatory school insurance, which i am guessing will stink and cost like another 10-15k annualy to put my wife/son on it!

Think its 800 to a 1000 stipen or the downtown campus has housing across the street but i can't find any pics of it? Did you have a preference on where you liked living in naples...north naples i hear is nice...just trying to think about a good place for family but not to far a commute either?

So my wife is a pediatric nicu/icu nurse for the last eight years...do they hire for peds with the seasonal contracts? I know that Naples is a retirement type of place so I was wondering if they are just wanting adult seasonal nurses? Did you have a primary contact...I found a number for a Diana Bailey (NCH recruitor seasonal) and was wondering if she would be a good resource for getting the ball rolling asap?

Also, since it is a commitment and not a contract, can or did they cut your hrs or days short towards the end of the season? Was there any option or incentive for you to stay on after your commitment? Just wondering if my wife would have to try and become full time staff, or per diem at the end of the season, or if she could renew and keep a housing stipen or the high pay! Do you know what they pay experience staff nurse at NCH? (wife has 8yrs peds icu/nicu experience)

Did you have to rotate between the downtown hospital and the north campus? If not, did you have a preference for which one you liked better as far as overall quality of life and staffing friendly?

1 - NCH is, more or less, a community hospital (system). Therefore, their offerings in regards to pediatrics is very limited. Both Lee Memorial in Fort Myers and Physicians Regional in Naples, etc. hire seasonal nurses, They may have (more) offerings in regards to pediatrics. I have HEARD that their pay isn't as good as NCH's.

2 - I have several friends who took the hospital housing and, while it's close to the hospital located Downtown, it is very old. In addition, it is very limited and returning seasonal staff get priority.

3 - Diana Bailey is THE contact at NCH. Her e-mail address is [email protected]. IF you are interested in seasonal work with NCH, you should apply as soon as you can. Returning seasonal staff receive priority.

4 - Like any other facility, nurses DO get pulled occasionally (even between Downtown and North). I have been pulled once in three months. There is a lot of overtime available during the peak three months. In addition, they offer completion bonuses. I am receiving $1,333 for completing a four-month contract.

5 - What's challenging about SW FL is that there is a well-defined peak season (about four months). So, it may be challenging to find work (full-time or otherwise). Maybe take a six-month seasonal gig, work overtime, save money, and possibly work per diem with all of the hospitals in the area to work at least 12 hours a week.

Thanks for the info! Very Helpful, I talked to Diana and sounds like they don't have a lot of opportunity for my wife cause she is a peds nurse...might just be best to look for a full time gig in the north campus or in fort myers i think they have a children's hospital.

what unit do you work in and how is your patient load? Do they treat their seasonal staff fair or do you feel like they load you up and give you the assignments no one else wants? orientation?
