UTMB Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

The application opened for this program just opened the other day, and I wanted to see if I could reach out to anyone else applying!

I've submitted my application, and took the TEAS V Test this morning!

I graduated Texas A&M with a Biology Degree this year and during completion of this degree I realized Nursing is where I want to be! Hope to hear from others!

The office of enrollment sent me the supplemental application for the accelerated BSN. I immediately completed the application and sent it back. Has ay one received the supplemental application? Now the waiting begins, right?

Yes. I received it and completed it immediately. Now....we wait. I wonder why they extended the deadline.

I hope they are extending the deadline due to less number of applicants. Thus, increasing my chances of getting in.... I called and asked when will i know the results, they said 6-8 weeks... then, she added if by mid-January, you have not heard from us, call us... they send notifications via email and if no email is sent, a rejection letter is sent via snail mail....

By the way, the UTSA extended the deadline too to Dec. 3.... Did anyone try to apply in that school?... I applied and it seems they have the same procedure as UTMB... they sent me the supplemental application which, i filled up and submitted immediately.

Just wondering if they told you if there will still be an interview process. I was hoping to hear something this month but with your post it looks like its going to be a long while before we know anything.

Does anyone know when they extended the deadline to? That just means a longer waiting period. Ugh. I am also curious of there will still be an interview process. I know they hold then for the regular BSN but I'm not sure about the accelerated.

They extended it to this past Monday Dec 3rd.

Yes.. they extended it till Dec. 3.. maybe to invite more applicants in Nursing CAS and more applicants to receive supplemental application (not all who receive this will be accepted, it is just to prove your residency)... those generate income to their end.... anyway, from what I have learned from the previous applicants and my research... not everyone will receive an interview invite.... for those whom they think are highly qualified, like those who attended universities here with a high GPA, and are new graduates, they will not need an interview. They will receive an email of acceptance and all they have to do is accept or decline.... however, for those who are foreign graduates, those who are returning students (who have worked for years), those non-Science major students, will most likely to receive an interview invite..... They would like to get to know your goal, your socio economic status, etc if it is fit for their school...

Since they extended the deadline to Dec. 3, the 6 weeks will be on Jan 7th...we will hear from them by Jan 7... they said Mid-January that they will get in touch with us and if we still have not heard from them by the end of January, we need to call them for follow up...

Maybe we should post if anyone hear anything from them....

Does everyone has an access to "MyStar"? I keep logging in to "MyStar" because I remember last time, as soon as their decision is out, "MyStar" log in was denied.... it simply means I was rejected... I applied to the Traditional BSN- Spring 2013 because I learned that both BSN accelerated and BSN traditional will graduate at the same time anyways... so, I called them up after my access form "MyStar" has been removed and received the rejection letter... I asked them why I was rejected, they were nice to tell me it was due to my one "F" grade... I was not aware I have an "F" grade.... I checked the Nursing CAS and it was there but not on my transcripts at hand... I went to the Community College and spoke to the dean and had the "F" removed...community college said, it was a computer error...it caused me rejection from UTMB.... then, I called UTMB to explain what happened... UTMB allowed me to access "MyStar" page again with the green circle application saying "completed"... had to deal with NursingCAS to correct it from my records... NursingCAS is difficult to deal with... it took me 2.5 months of follow up to get that all straighten out...

So, now i keep checking the "MyStar".... if my access is denied, now i know why..... ;)

Thanks for the info! I'm anxious!!! I have access to Mystar...I just wish it would change to admitted instead of completed. haha.

Ha ha ha.... I wish so too... the agony of waiting is agghhhh.... I do not like another rejection letter, it is so depressing to get one

I just checked the website and it looks like they extended the deadline again to January 3rd....
