UTHSCSA May 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I've been watching all the UTHSCSA posts for a while waiting for someone to start one up for the May 2011 accelerated program, and finally decided to take the initiative and see if there is anyone else out there that will be or hope to be attending the program.

Has anyone taken the TEAS downtown at UTSA and gotten their scores back? Mine are still blocked and I want to know how I did... :(

Also, anyone else hear back yet? I'd love to find out who my future classmates are!!

I waitlisted for Zone 3 Lot 9 Reserved. The permits are a bit more expensive for reserve, but from what I've heard from friends at UTHSCSA parking is really bad. So if you can swing it, the extra money might be worth not having to park in lot 17 and wait for the shuttle to get to school. I signed up just today and I am number 8 on the waitlist so hopefully some spots will open up before school starts. You can view a few different permit options and see how long the waitlist is for each one. This map helped me pick which lot was closest to campus/had the shortest waitlist.

Thanks so much!!! That map helps out so much!! I got on the waitlist too as #9!! I also called to see about how the wait is and they said 6-9 months :uhoh3: but if push comes to shove we can get lot 5 and stay on the waitlist for lot 9 and can upgrade when availability hits is what they said...

I got on the waitlist for Zone 3R Lot 5 and am number 7, so i'l just keep my fingers crossed. I got the official word on laptops by the way... (copied from the UTHSCSA website UT Health Science Center School of Nursing :: Computer Requirements

)

Effective May 2011:

Students admitted into the School of Nursing undergraduate program will be required to purchase a laptop computer from the Health Science Center when entering the program. This computer will be formatted with standard programs and on-line learning resources. Windows-based and Apple platforms will be available.

just wanted to share the info!

woohoo!! I'm excited about the computers. I was gonna purchase a new one in february anyway but I guess i'll wait that way I dont spend extra money.

does anyone know if BSAT and HIPAA are the same orientation? All that was listed was the web orientation and BSAT and I'm kinda freaking out because I don't see anything that says HIPAA.

Let's see...I got my CPR certification, FAFSA, BSAT Cert and scholarship information done. Still finishing up a couple of pre-reqs at SAC, fingerprints next week, and am stalling on getting shots because I am so scared of them :uhoh3: Was lucky enough to get put back on my mom's insurance so that'll save me some money :yeah:As far as parking, I work across the street at the methodist plaza so i'm wondering if my boss will let me use the parking during school :)

still debating if i wanna work while in school or just quit altogether. What are you all planning to do?!? I heard it's gonna be intense and there's no way to work!

I talked to Mike and he said the HIPPA one will be up later, so I don't think they're the same.

Hey guys, I'm so happy that I stumbled onto this discussion board. I've spent some time reading the earlier posts and man oh man ... there was alot I did not know about. Just to give you some info on me: I currently live in Austin and have a BS in Psych.

As for the computer requirement: does this mean we cant use the laptop we already have? We are expected to purchase a new one from the school?

THANKS!!!

Kat:rolleyes:

Hey Guys, Thought I would share some information I got today. I called the Admissions office earlier today because I was wondering what year we needed to complete for our Fafsa; turns out we need to do both years (according to Financial Aid). We need to complete 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.

I don't know about yall but I am stuck because in order to do 2011-2012 Fafsa I need my taxes from last year... now I have to wait for my W2 to come in.

Thanks for the info Mmel ... I was thinking about doing it nehow. And now, you just reminded me. =) Hey, do you know if we can use OUR laptop instead of purchasing a new one? It just seems uneccessary when we have one already ..

I am pretty sure that we have to buy a computer from them. I believe its because we have to take quizzes/ assignments online and their computers have "anti-cheating" programs installed. I also heard that our new textbooks are going to be on these computers.

I really hope our books aren't on them because from experience I know that studying from multiple e-books is a pain. Can't take notes, can't highlight, if your battery dies then your stuck until you find a plug, can't study at work... a literal headache.

Hey guys! Glad someone started a thread for us! A little bit about myself: I'm from Austin and have a B.S. in Psychology from UT. Really excited about this program, but I still have so much to do. Would it be possible for someone to email me that cost estimate thing? My email is [email protected]. I just completed my 2011-2012 FAFSA, but I have to submit one for 2010-2011 as well? Anyway thanks for all the info and I look forward to meeting all of you in the program!
