UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Got my acceptance email from TWU yesterday. The anxiety of waiting has been drastically reduced.

Congrats!! :) I got my acceptance from there as well. It's a huge relief but still hopeful about UTHSC.

So, those of you who got/get accepted to both TWU and UTHSC will choose UT? Just curious b/c I've been comparing, and I think I will stick with UT because I would graduate 8 months sooner.

IF I got into both, I don't know which I would choose. I've tried looking up differences but haven't had much luck. How would you graduate 8 months earlier at UTHSC? Aren't they both four semesters long?

Sorry to jump in, UTHSC goes through the summer so it goes Spring, Summer, Fall, Spring Graduation. TWU breaks in the summer so you would have two summers off with their nursing program which pushes your grad date back. (TWU-Spring, summer off, Fall, Spring, summer off, Fall Graduation). I think that would be correct.

Okay, I see. Thanks for the explanation!

I got accepted into both. I chose UTHSC because one, they had sent my acceptance way ahead of TWU and I was given a deadline to respond. After a few weeks I began to really like UTHSC. Second, they are the number one school in Texas and in the top 5 percent in the nation. Third, yes, graduating 8 months sooner sounds A LOT more appealing even though I know I am in for a crazy ride!

I am going to say this and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not be offended. I don't know how accurate this is because there is always two sides to a story, but I have a friend that is getting her masters at TWU and claims that a couple of professors have acted unprofessional at times. I don't feel as though I should reveal her stories over the forum, so I won't. She actually told me to choose UTHSC over TWU and that she would not recommend the school. Either way, I personally believe that both schools have excellent programs and I would have been proud to be a TWU student if not accepted into UTHSC. I actually had my hopes set on TWU and applied to UTHSC only because I didn't want my eggs in one basket and thought that I did terrible on my TEAS, which I ended up doing well.

Whichever school we choose we should all be proud of the hard work we put into getting accepted. It has become so competitive! Congrats on everyones acceptance and best of luck to those waiting on theirs, it's not over yet!

I keep hearing about how great other school's are but nothing about HBU. Someone give me the scoop.

I applied and got accepted into both as well! Like you, I actually had TWU as my number 1 choice until I started to look into both schools more after I applied. I did end up choosing UTHSC, and I after I accepted my offer, I was slightly afraid that I would regret accepting it if I did get into TWU as well. When my acceptance email did come from TWU, I didn't regret my decision. I think UTHSC was the right choice for me, but I would have been so happy going to either school. They are both really great! Best of luck to everyone!

So are they still notifying people for acceptance or what? Haven't seen any news on that lately
