UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Still nothing today. No status change, email, letter, or returned phone call. Is there anybody else still waiting to hear one way or the other or am I all alone?

You are definitely not alone. :sniff: I have heard nothing at all and have no changes of any kind. I am just assuming it's a no and am already preparing for next semester. Try not to let it consume you. We have no choice but to wait. Hang in there.

peche312- thanks for your reply. At least I know I'm not all alone just waiting and waiting to hear something; anything. It's so frustrating! I hope we both hear some good news REAL soon.

@vintagepony and to all those still waiting... just so you know, statement of intent deadline for those accepted is this friday (27th), so maybe hopefully you'll here something next week! I'll keep hoping and praying for you!!!

Thank you so much for this information! Hopefully we hear something next week! :)

Ok, it's official. I just received the email that I have been placed on the WAIT list for fall. So for those of you who have been waiting to hear something, I just got it. More waiting and wondering!! Is there anybody who has been wait-listed in previous semesters that actually got in?

nyctransplant- thank you for the information on the deadline.

peche312- check your email for the letter.

@vintagepeony - I am so happy for you! I just got the same e-mail! I am starting to get excited! :)

peche312- I'm so happy that we finally heard something! The not knowing was so hard. But here we go again with the emotional roller coaster. Wondering everyday if we'll hear something about getting in. Unfortunately, the letter didn't say how many people were on the waiting list or where you rank. Guess someone could be 1st on the list or 20th, etc. I'm crossing my fingers that we both hear next week that we've been accepted so we can start getting prepared.

I'm so happy that you received the same email. At least we both know our status right now. I'm praying for the both of us!

If you can, start doing some of the things that are going to be required. Go ahead and get your CPR, & all your immunizations lined out. Also try calling the school and seeing if you can submit for a drug screen or background check, just in case..... Doesn't hurt to be as prepared as possible! Just in case y'all don't get told your in until the last min. People will be called all the way up until the first day of classes (or so I've been told)Congrats!!! Atleast y'all are no longer in limbo. I will keep my fingers crossed for y'all :)

FYI - the CPR you will need is the BLS for healthcare providers. Get it through the AHA (American Heart Association)

Yup, got my waitlisted letter as well. Crossing my fingers for everyone! I wonder when they'll start notifying the waitlisters to open positions.
