UTA fall 2011

U.S.A. Texas

anyone else apply to UTA nursing school for fall 2011. I'm waiting for an admission decision.

I got my acceptance letter too! If the letter is thick you got in. if it is thin, it's a rejection. I know because I got both. Accepted into the online and rejected from the in class program.

I got in to the Traditional On-Campus BSN Program. Congrats guys! Either way, we'll be getting a BSN from UTA!

Congratulations to those who made it! I was one of the ones who received the thin letters.... 3.5 Science GPA, 3.68 GPA overall, not partnered. So it was a long shot.

Congrats...to those of you that made it! I also was declined :crying2: Oh well...I guess there is always the spring! I am curious just how many ppl who were not partnered got accepted? I have the same stats as ash.ley so I thought I stood a pretty good chance...and I have been a LVN for 10 yrs and have a BA from UTA in another field...so just shocked I guess to say the least! :uhoh3:

I'm going to go back to the drawing board now and begin planning for the future!

Again, congrats and best of luck to you all!!

tejas03, you had a better chance than I did! Because UTA was taking into account people with other degrees and you obtained it from UTA which was suppose to have even more merit! And you are already in the health field as well... I am sorry you did not make it. Good luck hitting the drawing board, it's where I am right now!

Thank you ash.ley...I'm just devastated!! I honestly didn't plan for anything else...I guess this is why they say "don't put all your eggs in one basket!" :smackingf:smackingf:bluecry1::bluecry1:

I have called and left a message with my advisor cause I really want to know what I could have done differently???!! I do not want to work during school if at all possible cause I have 3 boys and a husband who already works full-time so really school was all I could take on, plus I want my school work/grades to be my number one focus since I had planned on doing the NP program at UTA.

I'm sorry for you too, ash.ley!! Hang in there..we will get in somewhere!! :)

Girl, you know it! There are lots of LVN to RN programs. You could always bridge to RN and then from RN bridge to BSN? I know it would be a little longer, but you'd get in for sure! At least it's an extra option!

I didn't apply anywhere else, considering I was told over and over I was a "very competitive applicant" or a "shoe-in" but then again, they want the $$$ for the AP program.... (thinking bitter much- just for today) Baylor has a program for people with Bachelors I just saw called the FastBacc... look at it! You might be able to get in there too... Good luck, tejas03. You have a few more options to go with, but it'll be possible no matter what. I'm retaking AP I this summer, and moving forward. : )

Congratulations TO ALL that Have made it!!! I really mean that...I have been placed on the waiting list for the AP BSN program! I am a transfer student from TCC and 3.75 Science GPA; 3.54 lower pre req;overall 3.65......SO i was completely heart broken when I got the REJECTION for the traditional.....with very little hopes of the AP BSN program...SO I really mean to each and everyone of you COngrats and I wish everyone else the best of luck!!!

Have ya'll considered applying to a CC and getting an ADN? I know that means you'd have to wait a whole semester to apply... or more, if it's a Fall only entrance.. but the LVN idea is a good idea, too! Don't give up... there's so many options out there, and if you're unsure, just talk to the advisers, I'm sure they'd know more than I do about that. Both of ya'lls stats are really good! I'm shocked that you guys didn't get into the AP BSN program... I'd definitely call and ask to speak to the dean or whoever to find out why you didn't get in/ what you can do to get in next time. Nursing schools are limited in seats, anyway... so it is competitive but don't lose hope!

Your GPA is really good. I mean I know there are people who probably got in with slightly lower GPAs and that's probably because they went to UTA. That's my only guess as to why you were rejected from the traditional program. You get additional consideration if you complete 12/16 Natural Sciences hours at UTA and if you've taken 30 or more hours at UTA, as well.

I'm not quite sure how competitive the AP BSN program is... I know students sometimes apply to both programs... but aren't most of the students who apply to that program, already RNs? Just wondering. Good luck! Hopefully you're at the top of the wait list and someone rejects.

thanks aornp. i hope i get into the program, but only time will tell.....

I just happened to check this thread this evening and checked the mail box. I got accepted on traditional program :heartbeatand waiting list on AP program.:icon_roll I will keep the waiting list of AP program while proceeding BNS traditional program....(if this allows...I need to talk to my advisor though...)

For someone's reference, my science GPA is 4.0 and other pre-requisites are btwn 3.7 -3.8 (not sure how the comittee calculate them) and I am not partnered. When I talked to one of advisors about 1 year ago, I knew science GPA for most students getting in is 4.0, so I retook one of science classes to make it 4.0. It seems it was worth it for my case....
