Texas Tech (TTUHSC) RN- BSN Fall 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello all, just wanted to start a thread for those of us applying for the Fall 2014 cohort of the RN - BSN program at TTU. I applied a few days ago even though I don't graduate from my ADN program until May. I finished all my pre-reqs for them this summer and just couldn't wait!

I did received a strange email today though... they said they received my transcripts and that I needed nearly every pre-req class to apply for their program. I already sent off for them to evaluate my unofficial transcripts a few months ago and was given the 'all clear' that I had all classes needed. Strange! Not to mention there is no way they could have received my official transcripts from school seeing as how they JUST got back to work today after the holiday. Anyone else get an email like that? I wonder if it's worth replying to or just waiting a week or two.

Anyway, good luck to all whether you are finishing your last semester like me or are already a working RN. :)

I have applied for fall 2014 too. The classes begin August 20, curiously waiting to hear from them..

Patiently waiting ? Hope we all find out soon!

I also applied for the program in the fall of 2014 and still haven't heard anything from them yet.

Can you submit an application before graduating from nursing school and without an RN license?

Yes you can. You admittance is pending you passing the NCLEX and having a license prior to starting classes. :) I really hope we hear something soon!

Hey all, anxiously awaiting here too. I got accepted into an RN Residency program and we have to submit an education plan to them in regards to getting our BSNs. I put all my eggs into Tech's basket so I really hope I get accepted. I graduated from my ADN last week, official grades were put up today. I wonder if I should send them my final transcripts even though I may not be accepted? I wonder how many they accept who haven't taken the NCLEX yet. Also anxiously awaiting my ATT to take it... :p

Congrats on getting a residency position Texaslvn! I applied to many and got many rejections :( I am holding onto hope that I will end up where I am supposed to end up at some point. I graduated last week too, and am planning on taking the NCLEX mid June. Did/are you doing a review for it? I chose to skip the expensive ones and go for the NCSBN one. And will be studying my Saunders book and CD daily. Trying to get at least 100 Saunders questions in per day.. Good luck to you. I do not know how many TTU takes, but I have heard it is no where near as competitive as getting into our ADN or a traditional BSN program. I hope that is true and that we hear soon!!!

Has anyone heard anything? I called and they said we will be notified at the end of May! I am impatient :sarcastic:

Does anyone know if we will be notified by email or mail?

Thanks

@jen867, thank you! I am very thankful to have been accepted into a residency. I don't know which area you live in but I know some residencies have to rescind offers at the last minute for those who don't graduate or don't pass NCLEX, so don't give up hope. Keep following up with any contacts you have. That's what helped get me the job was that I kept in contact with managers constantly!

I am not doing Kaplan or Hurst either, I am going to buy the NCSBN program and just use that along with Saunders and the Kaplan test strategies book. I didn't use a review at all for my LVN and I passed the first try with the minimum questions so I don't feel the need to drop $400 this time around either. I feel that if you went to a good school and did well throughout the program they aren't necessary, but I understand the fear of not passing!

TexasRN, thanks for following up. From what I understand, they will email us. I have been checking my spam folder just in case ;)

They will notify you by email. You can also check Merlin and they will leave a notification there as well. If you get accepted be looking for a mandatory orientation link. I did not get one and by time I got the survey asking how it went, it was too late for me. I had to reapply for the fall. I too am impatiently waiting. Good Luck!! :)

Notifications will be sent out next week, just wanted to let all know :)

Hi all,

I received an acceptance email today. We have to accept the offer by June 3rd and pay $100 to hold our spot. Good luck to everyone, hope to hear good news from you all!
