I am in nursing school and interviewed for a nursing student position at Parkland and a nurse tech position at Presby Denton. Presby Denton is much closer to where I live and looks to be a nice place to work once I graduate. However at Parkland I would be able to actually perform nursing skills that I have been checked off on like Foley insertion, etc. What would you do?

hiya! i was a nurse resident/student a facility here in cali and i think you it's really important to get your nursing skills honed. As a tech, you're limited to what you can do and you can mostly observe the RN do the skills BUT as an extern/nurse student then you'll be able to get hands on RN experience. Its so beneficial for you esp. going through nursing school, you'll be more confident and familiar with skills that others may struggle with (so you'd be able to help and teach!)

Good luck! :D

Parkland...especially if you are able to do skills. Besides, it may be easier for you to get an internship after graduation since you will know people and they will know you.

Try Denton Regional. Once you are a Nurse Extern, you can practice your skills once you have checked them off. Plus we are really short handed! If you want some contact info, PM me.

Thanks everyone. I decided on Parkland. Hopefully I made the right decision! :)

I would steer clear of Presby Denton.

Think you made a great choice. You will work hard at Parkland, but learn a lot. Plus, they have an great reputation ,so you would be very marketable after having worked there.
