New Grads in DFW...what are you earning?

U.S.A. Texas

Any new grad nurses starting positions in DFW area, residencies or regular full-time positions...

Can you tell us what your base pay will be/is? What about shift diff?

My wife and I are considering relocating to DFW, her as an experienced RN and myself as a new grad RN (both BSN with 3.9+ GPAs)

Think we will have any trouble finding good spots?

Am I off base thinking that an experienced RN can get $26/hr base pay and a new grad something like $23/hr base??

Thanks in advance! : )

Your wife just graduated in May, right? She won't be considered "expereinced" until she has been a nurse at least a year. Jobs are tight everywhere. So you would make about the same. I wish you the best.:)

Don't move until you have jobs already lined up. There is work for experienced nurses but new grads are having a very hard time.

Base pay for a new grad is $21.50-24.00 at local hospitals. I don't have info on experienced nurse base pay.

Good luck!

Yes I am still in school and wife just started. I was speaking in future tense if you will. lol

Thank y'all for the info

They started me out at base pay 23. Sadly grades are not looked at for.job determination. I graduated with a good gpa and applied over 150.jobs and got just 1 interview. Lol sad.....

You applied for 150 jobs in DfW??What are your shift differentials like?

Yes. I applied all over Texas mostly big cities, Massachusetts and Florida. I actually never asked what shift diffs are since im happy to even land an internship right out of school. I will find out Tuesday when i go in for orientation and Will let u know.

DFW is a very tough market for new grads. I (finally) was hired at Baylor for a new grad position and was offered $26/hour with 5 for night and 6 for weekend in differentials. I'll take it!

grades shouldnt ever be considered. I have friends that prove high grades does not mean good nurse.
