Need info-moving back home to/around San Antonio

U.S.A. Texas

Hi fellow nurses,

I'm moving back home to/around San Antonio and am curious what the average pay rate is...I've been an RN 10 yrs. When I left, the average pay at Santa Rosa/Baptist was 35/hr and 45/hr for agencies. What am I looking at now? better or worse? Also, I don't expect management to be much better, but one of the docs I used to work for stated that the Santa Rosa system has changed for the better...of course that could be from a doctor's perspective. what are your thoughts? Oh and can anyone tell me if ground has been broken for the methodist hospital in Boerne? Any info would be great as it's been at 5 years since I've been home. My husband is deploying and I'm moving home with my munchkin, so I need to have things in order prior to moving. What about real estate? How are things coming along in Boerne along IH 10?

Thanks so much,

Hi. As far as the pay goes the agency pay is accurate, the pay for the hospital employees is about the same for a non-benefited position, most RN's I know working here in S.A. make less than what you mentioned, but most have less experience than you. As for Santa Rosa, although I have never worked there, I did do clinicals for OB and Peds there. The OB area was great and staff was helpful, but I did not like the pediatric area at all, the staff was not student friendly at all and it seemed chaotic and disorganized to me. The ER there is extremely busy and Med-Surg was also. As for location, the I-10 Boerne area is real nice, that would be an ideal location to live but it is pricey. The Methodist hospital hospital in Boerne has been built and I believe it opens up in Jan 2008. Hope this helps. Good luck in your move.
