Medical City Dallas Hospital Internship Feb 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I wanted to open this thread for those who applied for the Feb 2013 internship. Questions, comments, ideas, reactions, reviews or anything you can say about Medical City Dallas Hospital are welcome as well.

What unit was it? Have you followed up yet? Don't give up yet there is still hope if she hasn't responded yet!!

It was ICU. I did email the recruiter. they are hiring only 1 candidate. I was told that total 9 candidates had an interview with the manager and they are going to make an offer this week which is tomorrow will be the last day of this week. I believed that they already made a decision for the position. By the way, Good luck with everything. I'm sure you will get a phone call soon!

. Oh wow how competitive for only one spot there is still all day today I would follow up again to see today if they have made their decision already. It doesn't look like they have every many spots for internships the Pcu manager told me she only has two spots available so I really hope I hear good news from them. They are the only hospital I have had any luck with all the rest have been rejections. Don't give up though its hard out here for a a new graduate in DFW!

please let me know about the internships...i graduate in may and pray that i can get an internship since i already work at med city

hello...please tell me how ur interview went...nicu is my top choice at med city for when i graduate in may....still trying to get thru to the manager just to introduce myself...was ur int with rose?

The interview with NICU was a group interview. A panel will ask a question and each candidate will have a chance to answer. The panel will then rate you according to your answers. I felt like I was in the Ms. Universe beauty pageant. :) They also gave us a tour. Their unit was definitely one of the best I've seen. People there were very friendly. The nurse manager was very nice and accommodating.

They said that the internship will start on Feb 28. The first 90 days will be spent on training, and the pay is $2,000 per month. After 90 days, you will then be paid on a regular RN rate (I don't know how much). They said the decisions will be made on the 28th, and that was yesterday. They didn't call me, so I guess I wasn't selected. :( Too bad I really wanted it, but maybe it just wasn't for me.

Good luck on your application. I hope you get the job!

Did you hear from them yet? I think I didn't get that position. guess it wasn't for me.. a quick question for you. why did you apply PCU? cuz I didn't get a chance to working in PCU during my clinical rotation. so, just wondering.

Hi do you have any other prospects? I have been calling but I have not heard yet I guess because of the the holidays. I emailed as well and got an auto reply out of the office from the recruiter today. I actually had some clinicals on a PCU floor and I enjoyed them. It's pretty much a cardiac floor.

Did the manager who interviewed you give you her business card?

Why don't you email her directly? just to follow up and say hi. Even tho I didn't get that job (I assumed, but mostly for sure), I emailed her and said hi. So, since you have more chance to hear from her cuz you were interviewed two weeks later than I did and holidays in between, so, just email her directly so what she will say to you. I've been applying parkland as well. but that's also not easy. :(

She did give me her business card and I have called and left one Monday and yesterday two messages and emailed her yesterday. No response yet I just have to be patient and wait I guess. I am just anxious. This is the only interview I have had other than a phone interview with a hospital in Tyler. I have applied to every hospital system in Dallas pretty much some Ltac facilities and home health and this had been the only chance I have gotten. I can't even tell you how many apps I have put in at Parkland . I have classmates that work their but they knew people to help them get on.

*One message Monday she told me to call by the 31st if I didn't hear from her by then. I left another message yesterday and I emailed her as well.*

Wow... what u did was what exactly I did. I applied Ltac, Rehab, nursing homes, home health. It seems like nursing shortage is not a true at this time.

I totally hear you. Medical City was the only option for me. but I guess not now..

My friends also got a job in parkland. I figured out they knew somebody there too. So, I asked my friend to give my resume to their manager but it wasn't influential because they were new grads. I think you have to know ppl who's been working there for years.

oh well,,, I'm looking for a job in Austin now. I didn't think about getting a job outside of DFW metroplex but no choice. Anyways, let's don't give up. hope we all hear good news soon.
