help please

hi,

i'm a new member and i seems to find it difficult to read other members reply to me or it that nobody has answered to my cry for help!

i need advice on schools to go for ADN prog. i live in Houston area.:uhoh21:

Hi--Probably the best thing to do is check on the community colleges, since that is where the ADN programs generally are. (I would say "always are," but I'm not 100% sure.)

San Jacinto College has a great ADN program. I've also heard great things about Alvin Community College! I have never heard any good remarks about Houston Community College. Just food for thought!:)

San Jacinto Community College has a great ADN program....sorry, though I have a daughter in Houston, I haven't lived or worked there in 5 years....so I'm not familiar with additional schools....don't think you'll be disappointed in San Jac though....blessings to you!

I agree San Jacinto Central has a really great ADN Program

I haven't heard great things about HCC though

There's also:

-ADN: North Harris, Alvin Community College

-BSN: UT-School of Nursing in Houston, Texas Woman's Univerisity, Houston Baptist Univeristy

I'm pretty sure there's a couple of more...google it!

Houston Community is a good school, but I would recommend the campus on Gessner at the old Memorial Hospital. They have changed the name, since I went. At that time, we used the same books as many of the BSN programs used, and my instructors were great. The only thing I have negative to say about the program is this: we did not have a strong pharm. class and the downtown medical campus did have a high fail rate for boards. I liked the fact that they offered evening nursing classes, too. I had a rotation at the VA, Memorial City, and a nursing home plus a pedi rotation at Shriners. It was wonderful. My psch rotation was in a lock up unit at the VA and then we did some of the milder psych stuff at a local private facility. I thought that the area I went to school in was easily assessed, not like some of the other campus sites. Hope this helps.
