Help for collin college nursing program

Hello everyone,

I am planning to enroll for the nursing program in collin college.

I had been there but couldn't get more information.

I would like to know that how many hours for each credit hour I will have to put each semester. Moreover, how many days and hours of clinicals for each semester they have.

Somebody told me that its 8 to 5 college for all four semesters. When I inquired in Brookheaven and El Centro college, they have very less hours compare to collin college. Is it true that collin college have lots of hours academically and clinically than other colleges? Please help.

I am a Collin grad and each semester we had lecture on Monday from 8:30-2:30 and one day of the week at our clinical site for 8-12 hours depending on which semester. In addition to that I had skills lab from 8-12 one day of the week for the first two semesters, and on the 4th semester we had an online class in nursing leadership.

All that being said, please know that my class was the last of the "old way" and things are different for all the students behind me, so hopefully someone on this page can clarify what it is like now. I think things have changed regarding skills but are mostly the same deal for lecture and clinical length.

I'm currently in the program, my class was the first to go through the new program. I'll tell you it is a work in progress, as they find things that don't work so well they tweak them, so if you do choose Collin understand that your experience may differ than mine. That being said, my 1st semester was the busiest, the first 8 weeks I had class mon-wed, Thurs was spent practicing skills at home or in open lab, Friday was the day we did our skills scenarios that were recorded and submitted for grading, sat and sun I studied. The last 8 weeks eased up a bit, and that's when clinicals started. 2nd semester my classes were mon and thurs with clinical on Tues (some people have clinicals on wed), when you do your psych rotations at Terrell you'll spend two days that week there. 3rd semester I had class mon and Thurs, clinicals Tues (again some had wed), and twice I had to come in for skills scenarios on Friday. 1st semester it would be tough working a job, but there were a lot of people who did work, some worked full time (but I wouldn't recommend working full time), 2nd and 3rd semester you shouldn't have a problem working. I'm about to start my 4th semester so I really can't give any advice on it. Pretty much any school you attend you're going to put in a lot of hours, that's nursing school.
