help, BSN PROGRAMS - HOUSTON AREA (or at least close..)

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am currently in my second year at a community college, where I have only 4 classes left to take in order to obtain my associates in general studies - being that majority of the prereqs needed are the same for most nursing (BSN) programs. My current GPA is like a 3.1 .. I am pretty confident that in my final classes I will get an A, therefore bringing up my GPA - reason for it being so low : because my first year I was fresh out of high school so I thought I could b.s. my way through classes, I now have majorly improved my study habits and actually show up to class to learn, not to nap.

-Where I need help..

It's about time to start applying to nursing programs and I have ZERO confidence that I will get in anywhere with such a low GPA.. I hardly will consider applying to most schools because I know how competitive it is and how unlikely it would be for me to get in..I will anyways though because miracles do happen. lol.

I am curious as to what schools I should apply for (Houston area preferably - although I'll consider others) and any words of advise?

I would love to hear y'all's stories as well ..

Thanks in advance..

This information is readily available on the Tx BON website. Here is a listing of all approved programs along with their respective NCLEX pass rates for the last 5 years. The list is arranged by type of program, but you can easily determine which ones are in the Houston area by the name of the school.
