Do I have to transfer credits. San Jacinto college, Texas, Aplication process,

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I want to leave the Community college I currently attend, and start fresh somewhere else. I don't want to transfer my grades, because I have more bad then good. Does the nursing program check to see if you have attended other colleges? Also on the application for the nursing program the application ask have you been on academic suspension I want to be honest, but will this hurt my chances if I answer yes, and be forced to provide a transcript from the college I attended before?

I would be honest with them and attach a letter explaining your situation and why you are more prepared to commit yourself and what strategies that will make you successful!

I have heard of some schools that allow you to declare "academic bankruptcy" - which erases your prior attempts and allows you to start fresh. I think that Sam Houston does/did this... but it is not the norm. Think about how colleges identify you. They use your SSN in the application process. If you applied for or received any financial aid, you are in 'the system' and your information is discoverable.

PP is correct, your best approach is to be honest. Your situation is not that uncommon.

Bottom line: you have to provide transcripts from all schools attended. Credits won't transfer if you have less than a 2.0 in a course. It will appear as an attempt.

If you conveniently leave things like previous colleges off your application, that is considered fraud. Don't do that.

after reading everyone's comments i transferred my grades to the new college (i don't think they have received them yet), now I'm scared they will say something. my priorities were not straight my first years in college, and i didn't want that to prevent me from getting into the nursing program.

It depends on the school. I transferred credits from my previous college and my school only counted the credits. GPA didn't transfer. However, the nursing program admissions carried over my full GPA when I applied.

O_o really not looking forward to my past catching up with me. My head was in the clouds so happy to be out of high school
