I attend Mont. College and applied to Tomball, Mont., and North Harris for Fall 06' ADN program. Anyone out there know any info. about the odds or how many applicants applied this year... or anything.... I am desperate and don't think I can handle the wait until letters go out.... deadline was March 1 so i called Mont. March 2 and asked when letters would go out and they said probably sometime in April. I'm taking Pharmacology online so I'm not able to ask around the college except when i go to the testing center for exams. Thanks!

I have applied for Fall '06 also. However not sure of the number of applicants. All my advisor said was that since this is the first semester where they will only use the HESI Reading score for the points, and since most ppl do relatively bad in the Reading portion when compared to Math, they were thinking there may be a slight drop in total points. However she did say that was just their speculation.

I am expecting a ltter in mid April.

Good luck to you texancanadian! Which of the 3 were your first choice? Mine was Mont. but of course i will take any of the 3 as long as i can get in this year. I actually scored higher on the reading than on the math. i completed the reading first which left me with little time to finish the math. So this could be a good thing. 30 seats and very competitive...i did not realize this when i first started my prereq's... but it doesn't matter bc i am determined to become a nurse and the CALL is implanted in my heart and soul and i have come too far to turn back.

Good luck to you too. My first choice is North Haris college, because its the closest to my residence plus its been around the longest and has a very good reputation.

My 2nc choice would be Montgomery.

Best of luck. My understanding is that last fall the last person admitted in any program had a total of 10.95 points out of 12.

Fall admissions are supposed to be easier than Spring because of more seats available.

I am not going to make the July '06 transitional program @ NHMCCD. Planning on taking online Pharm thru Tomball in the Fall. That will leave me twideling my thumbs for the Spring semester. Think I will take that semester off and hopefully I will get into their transitional '07 program- God, I'm already sick of school and I'm not even into the actual nursing stuff...:uhoh3:

I also attend Montgomery college (perhaps we are in some of the same classes) and applied for fall at tomball, NH, and montgomery.

I don't know how many applied this year or exactly how many spots are open (they increased the amount of spots, I think) but last year, the cut off at all three schools was around a 10.8 out of 12.

Which, in my case, means I probably won't get accepted, as I am at 8.9.

If they only looked at classes I'm taking this Spring, I would be 11.9.

Because I'm probably not getting in, I am planning to take a couple more classes needed for UT's BSN program and apply to that in Janurary, along with next fall's NHMCCD program (both campuses offering Spring starts are too far away for me to realistically look to attend).

Methylene, I'm not sure if we were in classes together or not. I have been taking prereq's for 2 years now and have finally finished all of them. Once you finish your prereq's you will for sure get in with a 11.9. I wish they would accept the classes your currently taking but unfortunatly they do not... if that were the case i would have applied for fall '05. If you apply to UT do they accept HESI scores or do they have some other entrance exam? If they did accept the HESI that would be awesome. The waiting is killing me....i am hoping and praying for an acceptance letter. I have a 11.7 and i am hoping that its good enough. i feel fairly confident but then again you never know...Good luck to you!!

BTW i'm not sure were you live but kingwood has spring start and my sister-in-law was explaining to me how to get there without having to get on 59. it's really not that far... Cy-fair is out of the question (way too far).

No, UT uses the NET test which is quite similar but is from a different testing company.

With an 11.7 there is no way you won't get in. Feel confident in your score.

I live in the middle of Spring. My wife's dad teaches History over at Kingwood, so I've been there often. Let's just say it is not an enjoyable commute, especially when we currently only have one car. Factor in the area hospitals you'll do your clinicals at and that is a total no for me.

Same with Cy-fair.

Montgomery or Tomball are my only real choices, though I could make NH work if it meant starting a year only.

Nevertheless, with a 8.9 I'm fairly sure I won't be getting in to any of this years' programs so it is best to start planning for the future.
