Hey everyone! I applied for the pediatrics track for summer 2011 and found out on Friday that I was accepted! Let me know if anyone has been accepted to that track. I am so excited and can't wait to start!!!

Hi all. Congrats to those who were accepted!!!

I am currently in the process of applying for the track that begins in January of 2012 and I was wondering if any of you know if anyone gets accepted without having work experience? I have a good GPA, but NO experience other than clinicals (not for lack of trying).

If anyone has any pointers they can give me to boost my application, that would be great.

I'm applying for the Winter 2012 cohort as well. I have experience as a nurse tech in both mental health and med-surg, but that was over a year ago. I'm in an accelerated 12 month program in Florida and graduate mid Jan. I really hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew!

Does anyone know if the pay is still $18/hr or has it gone up?

I have an interview tomorrow at Vanderbilt and am super nervous. I have been a nurse for a year but have always wanted to work at Vanderbilt. I am keeping my fingers crossed I can pull off a good interview.

To those who have recently interviewed with Vanderbilt:

Does the panel ask clinical questions during the interview or mainly behavioral questions? I'm interviewing with them in about a week and I'm pretty nervous. Any input would help!

I'm interviewing next week for the pediatric track. Anyone have any suggestions? I have experience as a student nurse associate on an oncology floor so I hope that helps me out. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I was accepted into the critical care track last time this year.

I would say the best things that you can do are be honest and confident. They don't expect you to know everything. I think the things they're looking for the most are that you are safe, teachable, and willing to stay at Vanderbilt for awhile.

I'm still another year from getting my BSN here in CA, but don't mind moving out of state to get more experience upon graduation. I have been following various interested hospitals. I love Vandy's reputation as a world class employer.

My one concern is the starting pay ($18) for new grads when compared to CA's start pay from $30-35. Understandably, the cost of living is higher in CA, but does anyone know if that also compares with TN's cost of living at the $18?

There are places away in CA where the rent or housing expenses are not that high if you don't mind the extra 15-20 minutes extra drive time and figure with working the evening shifts it will not make that much of a difference.
